I just got some new GHD Salon Stylers (the big ones) off eBay

I plan to use them each time I wash my shoulder-length hair - maybe about 3 times a week. I spoke to this hairdresser about having to buy the GHD thermal protection oil stuff (£10 a bottle!) but he said my hair is quite thick so I should be alright if I just use a leave-in conditioner. So I went to Boots and looked at the leave-in conditioners they had. All of them said that they were for revitalizing and giving volume to "fine lifeless hair". Surely this isn't what I need??

Any thoughts, comments or tips would be appreciated. I want nice hair but I don't really want to spend £10 a month on the oil stuff unless I really have to.
