Hey!
My name is Nicole, I'm 19 and I'm new to these boards...and new to wanting short hair. I was just wondering what you guys think about a hairstyle I'm considering.

Here's a picture of me:

Here are a couple of better pictures of how my hair looks right now. My hair is pretty thick, and naturally wavy/curly, but I straighten it.
(I blotted out my face, because I just looked completely heinous haha):

Here are a few pictures of what I would like to get. It might not be considered short for you guys, but it's pretty short for me hehe!

If I do get this hairstyle, I am going to have it a little longer, because I have a chubby face (you can't tell too much by the first picture of me, but it is there...hence the blotting of my face for the other pictures..lol)

Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Hi Nikki!

Welcome and a word of warning: beware!  You posted on the short hair board, so do expect some "why not even go shorter?" ... Your short is in many others minds half long.

The hairstyle you're considering will work just fine for you.  It's young, not yet passe, so why not?  Only style the sides towards the face (let the style be adapted a bit to accommodate this).  Then the 'chubby' (where?where?) is quickly gone.  Will be a lot easier to straighten than your long hair, saving you time and effort!

Have fun at the hairdresser and don't forget to show us how it turned out!

Aside from the fact that hair # 113,642 looks a little short in the picture, I'm sure it'll look great on you.

Hey guys!
I got it done today, and it looks really great. It's going to take a little getting used too, because the last time my hair was this short, was when I was probably 8 haha. I don't have any pics just yet, but I will have some shortly. I was just wondering what products, if any, you can recommend for getting my hair to look piece-y...lol like in the pictures of elisha cuthbert. Thanks again.

My hair is very similar to your long hair and I am also thinking of going short but I'm afraid I'll miss the convenience of my pony tail.  Do you have any regrets?

I have none!
with the length I have it (a little longer than what the pictures show...just sitting on my shoulders) I can still pull it back in a small pony tail...granted I need some bobby pins to keep some of the shorter layers back, but thats a small price to pay for a low maintenance, and very cute cut! I can also put in cute pig tales. They look so much better with the shorter hair, and side sweeping bangs give the young look, a saucy twist ! lol

I'm happy to hear you're pleased with the result!

Another tip to put your hair up (a bit more difficult though): French braid it in two braids (seperation at top zigzag).  Holds the layers nicely together, looks very special without a straight parting.  Downside, maybe you need a friend for help if you're not used to doing it.  Then again positive about it is that you can have fun together doing it!
