I also got my color ring the other day and I found the color I would like so I am going to color my hair to match. When I do get my plastikhaar how do I care for it? What do you wash it with? I think I read you also use Febreeze on it - if so how? Thanks

Here's what I've been doing; washing about once a week (my scalp is so
used to dread/braid extenbsions that it isn't really oily at all
anymore), using detangling spray every time I brush it (tried silicone
spray and Dome Care so far; I like the Dome spray better), and
blow-drying straight once a week. I curled the ends a few times with a
curling iron just for a new look. That's honestly about all I've been

Hi Kimbearly: I assume you are going to order the 28mm curl like I got? Jenny and I have posted quite a few items on maintaining the curl etc. But to summarize - at least for me - and I seem to be the curliest of the crowd, at least for now: Personally I have to wash my hair about every other day or every 3rd day. I have found this to be *no problem* with PH. I use whatever shampoo is good for my hair. I rinse the PH with a slightly diluted mix of fabric softener and water. It really needs this. Regular conditioners do not work. After showering I spray it wish some type of synthetic hair "conditioner". I use the 'Pro Hair' stuff, but there are many others. The more you can let it air dry, the better. It responds really well to an old-fashioned "set" where you let it dry or sit under the dryer. Once dry, use flocked hot rollers to get it to do *whatever you want*!! Enjoy and good luck. . .can't wait to see pics!!! Fina "See me in the dictionary under the entry for BIG HAIR"

Thanks so much girls, I am really excited to try out this type of hair. Sara told me that it is about 10 1/2 inches in width very long and about 4 wefts sewn together. Too wide for me so I will cut it to fit. | It IS the killer shipping charge. I just ordered from them last night and made it 2 bottles of Care, a bottle of conditioner and 2 bags of hair just to make it worthwhile. Then it occurred to me that maybe we could locate a salon somewhere in the area that does the Dome method and maybe they stock Dome products there. Even with tax and gas, the price would beat $28 shipping charge. |

Well, to be perfectly honest, I think the Brandywine wig spray works as well as the Dome Care for smoothing the frizzies; for detangling when brushing, though, I think the Dome Care might be a bit better. It's hard to say. Maybe Rae can give another opinion on this. My feeling about the Dome spray is that it's good, but I'm not sure it's worth that ridiculous shipping price. Maybe there's a generic equivalent, but I haven't really looked around. Boogiemama had also suggested the Bedhed Headrush spray, which is pretty good (Sally's has a generic version, called Beyond the Zone Fasher spray, I think). Beyond that, all I use is a little Biosilk and fabric softener while showering (I do not use the fabric softener as a leave-in; I wash it out, although I have heard people say they've left it in, too). This sounds like a lot of products, but I haven't been using a lot of them--I think you have to be careful not to OD on products with the synth. A little silicone or baby-oil gel can be helpful on the ends, but the hair really doesn't absorb products in the same way that human does, so if you use a lot, they'll just sort of sit on the hair and weigh it down, imo. :) |

Well, maybe there's some sort of generic equivalent. Too bad Sara doesn't sell this stuff. The Ingredients are as follows: Dome Care: Alcohol Denat, Water, Phenyl Trimethicone, Polysorbate 20, Fragrance. Anyone know if these might be equivalent to other products on the market? (Where are Leia and SAS? They're good at figuring out this stuff! :) |

I've only had my 28mm PH in for a week, but so far I am LOVIN' it! Because I only wear my hair a little past my shoulders, the curl is still strong. (The longer the hair, the more weight is pulling down on those waves imo). I've washed the entire head once, and the rest of the time just the scalp. What a time saver to only have to mess with the top of my hair! This of course wouldn't work for someone who wears their hair more styled, but I'm all for messy earth-mother lookin' hair. I bought some HASK Pure Shine from Wal-Mart for around $3 that I finger through the curls and have occasionally hit it with some diluted lavender Downy. If I'da just had the colors right I'd be in hair heaven! |
