Anyone else having difficulty posting photos and html with this new forum format? I never had a problem until they switched over and now my Mac splits the html code and photos are a nightmare. My PC works the forum fine (which is odd because my PC is Satan.)

Any help appreciated.

Amm, I don't have a Mac, but I notice that links now only automatically convert to html about half of the time.  I have no idea why.  They seem to work better from work (IE) than home (Firefox), so I'll look into any browser issues.

What browser are you using?

Are you using the WYSIWYG editor?

How exactly do you insert pictures?

I'm using Safari (for Mac OSX), Firefox 1.0 and IE 6.0

I've taken WYSIWYG on and off and tried both.

I'm formatting directly as described in the help section here.

When I include a http:// link, there's a space at the end of "htm l"
and I cannot edit the space out.

Amm, I have a mac with Safari and also IE 6.0. I am having a
hard time posting live links or just half of them will work, if I
have a few on one post. I can't get the images to show up. I am
still using photobucket to get the image tags but can't get them
to show up now. I had to send my pics to Sherrie to post for me
(I think she has a PC). I'm feelin' like a total blonde here!! I also
tried the WYSIWYG on and off-nothing!!
Has anyone mastered the new forum settings on a Mac?

Can you post some here and just let the forum do what it wants to do with them. I will check it out on my mac tomorrow.

Jeff.

Sorry Jeff, I'm thinking it’s totally me that’s
messing up here. I posted this e-mail a few days ago and only
one link would come up live. I tried to get the other two links to
work but they wouldn’t work or they ended up live linking all the
text too. So I just left them with no tags attached, as I could not
figure them out after several edits.

You want to pick your name for your site then you have
to go to a domain registrar and pay them for the name you want
to use, if it's not taken. You can pay for 1 year , 2 , or 5 years to
own the .com name. Then you have go and set up web hosting
for your site, which is normally set up in a 3 month, 1, or 2 year
payment plan. You can do these separately at any of these
links here………

Domain Names

Web Hosting
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=
ISO-8859-1&q=web+hosting&btnG=Search

OR

You can go to some web hosting companies that will register
your domain name for free when you sign up with them. Just
make sure the domain name is getting registered in your own
name and not their company name, because if you leave to go
with another company down the line, they can still own your
domain name. So just make sure the domain name is
registered to you when you sign up with a web hosting
company that offers free domain names.

I went with http://www.startlogic.com/index2.html

where I got my free domain name and web hosting package.
There are many companies to go with. You may want to look
into the most popular companies here
http://www.hosting-review.com/top-10.htm

Shop around and find what is best for you!!

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SITE!!

This was a pic I was trying to post on
another thread. I uploaded it on photobucket.com as I usually
do. I copy the image tag link, then copy to my post. I just
couldn’t get the pic to show up.

This was the exact tag I got from photobucket.com

http://img.photobucket/albums/v690/saveastray/lineup.jpg and
the images tags were added of course of either side. I posted it
and this is what showed up below.

lineup.jpg">

Jeff, if you can just let me know the tags
you use to get the pic and the two (dead links) up, that would
be great. I had no trouble posting pics or links ever on the
original forum settings. I just can’t see where I’m going wrong.
Thanks Hun, sorry to be a pain!!

Here's some more to test. This is coming from a brand new iMac G5
running Safari. Previously, I would http://and the link would be
hyper so it could just be clicked on directly. Now it needs to be copy
and pasted.

Test short hyperlink:

SAS - Have you noticed our text is now in a short block instead of
running all along the length of the page. Look! We're special!

HaHa...Amm,
Now I can't even get the original startlogic link I had live
anymore to show live without all the text showing live too. I just
edited it back again.

Well, I'm not on a Mac, and I've been having the same problem posting links. It seems that since the site upgrade, extra spaces are appearing in the code (both for url links and image links), even when the link has been cut and pasted in its entirety into the message field. If you go back in an edit the message to close up those spaces, it doesn't necessarily let you do that either; after several attempts, it may work, or not. It seems like somehow the message field is "forcing" those extra spaces.

I also got kicked out of my account, Jenny_RR, when I was responding to a message, and when I tried to log back in, it said my cookies weren't enabled (which they are). I still can't access the account. I know Syren had a similar problem as well.

:)

This is not a MAC only issue.

I don't have any problem if I use the insert image button and the insert url buttons.

Now pasting into this reply...

Hmm...so are you saying we need to disable the WYSIWYG editor and it'll work? Where do we find that--in the user preferneces or something? :)

All can say at the moment is that when you copy an url in make sure you get the complete url and that it doesn't have any breaks in it. I can't seem to find out how to break it using the buttons.

http://mp.hairboutique.com/ - http://mp.hairboutique.com/

Cutting and pasting seem to work.

I can make it work either way. Haven't had it fail yet.

Jenny... What browser are you using?

Yes the WYSIWYG setting is in the profile.

It doesn't look like the WYSIWYG editor is available under Safari.

Can any other MAC users confirm that?

WYSIWYG editor is available in Firefox on Mac OS/X

I've found that simply cutting and pasting a long url causes breaks...short ones are fine.  If I use the "insert link" function it's okay, though.

Let me revise that it does this at home on Firefox.  In IE (at work) it pastes as a link.

I will look into the WYSIWYG settings for Firefox, though.

I've got WYSIWYG turned off in this forum's preferences and I still
cannot post photos with the Mac. When I paste links in, they do not
become hyperlinks that allow others to simply click on them within
the post. To open any link I include, the user must copy the url and
then paste it into their browser. Nothing seems to work as it used to
while running Safari on a Mac.

Are you using the Link button above the edit field?

The photos still will not work. They come up fine when I preview the
post and then when I update, they are jumbled.

I am using the link icon (fourth from the left for the link without pic)
and the link icon (second from the right to attempt linking with a pic)
