I have been reading that MSM is good for hair.  What kind should I buy?  I already take 1000m of Biotin.  Thanks

I believe that hair formula 37 is good,  I had good results and heard of others with the same.

good luck

I heard of people crushing it and disolving it in their hair products too.

I think MSM is MSM, no matter the brand. As long as it's not some weird foreign import that doesn't look credible.

With Hairtopia you don't have to crush it & it has MSM already included in the formula.  You can just easily pop open the capsules and pour into juice or oatmeal or protein drinks.

Whether you use Hairtopia or some other vitamins, it is always good to open the capsules, if you can, and pour into a liquid.  That helps it absorb much faster into your blood stream.  If the vitamin is a tablet and your digestion is messed up for any reason, your body may not be able to adequately break down the tablet and the fillers (tablets tend to have more filler than capsules which just has the gelatin based capsule skin) and your body will not get the benefits as easily.

So the same is true with MSM.  If you can open it, and drink it with something, it is better.

Hi Danielle,

A few months ago I experimented with "grinding" all of my tabular vitamin and herbal supplements (and opening the herbal supplements in capsule form).  The effect was immediately noticeable (and positive) in terms of my feelings of being alert and well.  Unfortunately, after a few weeks, I began to begin feeling run-down.  I attributed this to a lack of vitamins and minerals available for use in the latter digestive stages.  I returned to not grinding the tablets (or opening the capsules), and returned to the pre-experiment state of being.

Here is what I would do for my next experiment (but presently have no plans to try it - yet): Combine the two (take one ground dose and one un-ground dose, at the same time) for the best of both - at least with the vitamins & minerals.  I imagine the same benefits may result from doing this with the hair-specific supplements.

Hi Dave,

Actually what you can do is open your caps or grind down your vitamins that you would take for the entire day...and then break them up into 6 small plastic baggies and then dump them into juice, water or protein drinks throughout the day.

Also...as a workaholic maniac (who besides me comes to work at 7:00 am on Easter and is still at the office at 4:30 pm?  HA HA) I can tell you that it is important to eat 8 tiny meals a day.  I suspect that you may have some low blood sugar going for you.

When I open my vitamin capsules and separate them into 6-8 little baggies and then take all day long....I am really feeling good.  I also try to eat healthy snacks all day long like little oatmeal bars that have low fat or some fruit or baby carrots.  It helps SO much.

Also, another finding is that most of us humans don't drink enough water.  While we might think that 8-10 glasses is good, when we are under stress we need more.  So less caffeine and more water.

Now if I could just figure a way to get my treadmill into my office with my vitamins, healthy snacks, jugs of water and 200 headbands...I would be in great shape.  hee hee.

Happy Easter.

Karen
