Are these products beneficial (or even suitable) for relaxed African-American hair, that is, hair that is fairly fragile?  I read over the description for the products, but couldn't come to a conclusion on my own.  I would have asked on the AA board, but from what I can see, few people there use it at all, and they're not regular posters.

Just wanting to know a little more before I spend $50 plus on shampoo and conditioners...

Hi Supersugar,

I've used the Phytojoba shampoo and it is very moisturizing.  It might work well for you but then again, I can't say with any degree of certainty (not being familiar with the needs of your hair).  Sorry!

Hi, I have hair with relaxer damage now so it is fragile too and I have been having good results with the Phyto shampoo for damaged hair ( I think it is called agee or something like that) and both Pantene and Infusium conditioners for frizzy hair. The Phyto shampoo I found at Sally Beauty Supply and it wasn't expensive at all, but maybe the conditioners are different.

Been using Phyto for 2+ years w/ great results.  I've dyed, highlighted, fried, frizzed, chemically treated my hair to hell & back.  You name it and I've done it. Phytojoba in a diluted formula is very gentle & fab.  Also love PhytoBrush diluted.  The Phytosesame is wonderful (smells yummy too) for rinse out cond as is the Karite deep conditioner.  Totally addicted to Phyto 9.  Neutralizes my frizz.

You can find Phyto at selected Sally's BUT often they have limited selection (in my experience) & sales people seem clueless a lot, and plus you have to get in your car and drive there --- with my busy schedule I am lucky to even drive through anywhere for lunch.    It is always available at Sephora (love them) but they are even harder for me to get to than Sallys (miles & miles of mall parking).

Phyto is also available through HairBoutique.com (they carry everything from Phyto) with free shipping on any amount, even just one bottle, if you do UPS Ground AND they always give free Phyto samples & same day ship out on M-F.  I am a sample addict so that is always a plus for me & when I buy from them, my packages arrive ASAP w/no fuss. And you can shop in your PJs from your PC inbetween IMing your buds.  I do it all the time and shop in the wee hours.

After reading what others thought of the products, I've decided to try out Phytorhum shampoo and Phytosesame conditioner.  I've made a few bids through eBay.  I'll report back eventually.

I'm really glad you posted on this Supersugar, I've been considering trying Phyto products myself. I also have very distressed hair from a chemical straightener. But like you, I also want to know about a product before I lay down $50+ on it. If you try, let us know how it works out for you.

Well!  My bidding didn't go well (was sniped on both auctions at the last minute), so I bit the bullet and ordered through Hairboutique on Tuesday morning.

I got the bottle of Phytorhum today, and while I was marveling over the yummy smell (reminds me of several drinks ) and mourning that I would have to use my old conditioner along with new shampoo, it occurred to me that Hairboutique sends samples along with ordered products.  So I dug through the peanuts and came up with - PhytoSesame Conditioner.

Karen, I'm sure you're responsible for that, so you get a big THANK YOU!
