Okay, hot pots don't seem to melt the glue thin enough, so I end up with more glue globbed on the hair which creates larger bonds.  BUT, glue guns don't tend to saturate the hair the way dipping hair into a hot pot does, so I tend to apply more glue with the gun than necessary, also creating large bonds.  Okay, it's really not as bad as it sounds, I'm just trying to figure out how to use the least amount of glue necessary so the bonds will be small, but not shed.  How does everyone else go about this?

Try pre-tipping your hair with a glue gun, then when you're ready to install everything, use the heat wand. Works great that way.

What do you mean " use the heat wand?" to melt the glue abit more?

The purging tool/heat wand. Whatever you call it. Make your tips first using keratin glue and a glue gun. Make a whole bunch. Then install them using the purging tool to reheat the glue tip and roll into your hair strand.

Oh. Do you mean what is a head wand? Octavia, you've GOT to get a head wand! Few of us could function without one. You might possibly substitute a flatiron if you have one of those, but a dual sided heat wand works the best.

I have a really good glue gun that has a minute nozzle on the end and that really helps

I don't like to pre-tip.  Just seems like I'd be spending a whole lot of time up front making the pre-tips when I could simply add glue to the ends when I'm actually doing the install.

I dont pre tip either.  With the fine nozzle gun i put the small tip into the centre of the hair selected and squeeze out alittle glue (so its in the middle) then i rap any stray glue around the outside of the bond so it covers all hair strands.  Then when applying, with my figer pad i hold the extension hair underneath the clients hair and oush it up making sure its through all the strands, then roll the bond.  I bought the gun of a hair supplier at £70 which is really expensive but i have recently seen it at some diy stores for under £20 and you can buy the fine nozzle as an extra and put it on yourself.  Its called the tec 250.

Yeah Bird I just glob it onto and into the hair. Then, just reshape it with the wand.

Here's how I do it:
