hi,

originally i wanted to touchup my highlights, but the more that i
read on this board and the more that i think about it, i think i want
to do my whole head bleach/toner.

here is my situation:

my roots (about 1.5 inches of growth-yikes) are about a level 7 (6 at
the darkest)
my shaft/ends were highlighted to a pale pastel blonde, but they
have faded/become drab, so they are probably a light golden
blonde.

i did a test strand tonight, cut the hair and put the following on the
entire length of the hair (i realize now that i should have played
around with the time a little-

30 wt l'oreal toner
l'oreal blanc (?) powder lightener
some violet drops

i left it on the hair for about 40 minutes. i think it needed the heat
from my scalp, because it did not come up as light as it usually
does, but it was a light golden yellow.

then i put a wella toner on it-gold/blue base i believe with 10 wt
developer.

if i finally take the plunge, i will have to work out the times so that
the roots match the already highlighted area. i know that the roots
will probably take me about 30 minutes with the heat from my scalp,
but how long do you estimate that the shaft/ends will take to lighten
to match?

i know it is not recommended to bleach hair that has been
highlighted, but the roots will not match the ends. also, i have
noticed that people on the board bleach and re-bleach their hair
multiple times in a short period of time, so i figure mine will be a
little less severe since it is a one-time bleach.

thanks for any help you can provide. you guys are really great!
