| Why do dark skin brothers catch so much hell about their hair texture? Although most Africans are dark or brown skin with coarse hair. Here in America it is seen as  "nappy or bad hair". Light skin brothers with the "good hair" are seen a good looking. That's not cool!

          | Did you know that most of the African slaves came from Nigeria, Gana, Niger, Senegal, Sierre Leone, and Gambia. All countries on the West coast of Africa. Some came from other African countries but most from the West. Most are dark or brown skin people with coarse hair. That's why I can't understand this hang up with coarse hair. Tell me if you feel me. Please reply. I want to know your thoughts on this matter.

          | Here in America I think there is a disconnect with Africans. I like sporting waves. Been doing it since I was young. But have you notice that most brothers cut their hair low to hide the naps or wear hats. In the civil right era we sported afro's. Now we hide it with ball caps. Just thinking about hair and how it effect African American Males. You Dig! Thoughts........

          | I know I try to hide the naps cause I got "nappy roots". I'm proud of my culture, but I don't think I can be myself. America is not ready for NAPPY ROOTS. They think it's bad, hell black people think it's bad. My light skin mother think it's bad, so I wave it or braid it or cut it off.

One good thing about having coarse hair is that it can do things that other hair textures can't do. Course hair makes the best dreadlocks, the best braids, the best platts, and............ coarse hair can make a political statement as well.

          | Dig it. Now days people try so hard to fit in that if you don't act, LOOK, or think like them then they think something's wrong with you. I give props to all BLACK MEN/men of color for having enough faith to be different. This is what makes a true leader. We been through hell and still going through it right now. Discrimination against Black men is very high in the US. Have yall been peepin all these Brothers getting put in jailed, put down, degraded, and even dissed by our own sister's. They saying we sorry, we gay, we DL brothers, we given them AIDS, we don't want to work when they know that women are more accepted in corporate America than Black men.  It's a sad state of affairs! It's getting hard for a brother to keep his head up. But like TUPAK said "You gotta keep your head up"

          | Not sure if any one remember, but before the year 2000.  Dark skinned brothers were in.  No one would be ashamed if people said their complection made them look like Wesly Snipes or Eddie Murphy.  Its one of those social fads. A few of my white friends say they hate being cracked on for being so pale.  They keep saying how the guys with tans get all the girls. LOL

          | Kimboking your right. Boy do I remember! Now people with tans may get all the girls, but people without tans get all the J.O.B.'s. And people without tans can afford all the girls/womem. Confused! How can we as a people get over these socio-economic issues when we don't support each other. Many of us Black/tan men can't even afford to support a family. We can't expect others to respect us when our own women won't or don't respect us. We need support and motivaion to feel strong and that comes from the family. Family is not just your brothers and sisters, but your wife or girlfriend, but also your entire race. These are issues that our so call "leaders" and "head of households" must resolve or we will be doomed to keep repeating this cycle of family destruction.

          | That's why I use this  emotion because it's true in many cases but not in all cases. You see everbody wants to be like the "Have Not's", you know the people with the permant tans, But nobody wants to have their economic problems or family problems. Did you know that their are 5 females to each Black male? This in itself causes many of our problem. Too much competition for one group and not enough for the other group.

          | Us males are out numbered so we are in trouble without role models. That's why the women are doing so much better than us because they have mama, grandmama, and now great grandmama, great great grandmothers that are still living, mentor programs, and now business women too. Ask yourself what do we have? We have each other! Males That's why I volunteer at the Dallas Juvenile Justice Center so I can help all these young fatherless boys. Somebody got to do it.

          | The durag does that for you. Your barber can cut it in Dark Ceasar, Light Ceasar, Bald Fade, light fade. Ceasar is a full head of hair with waves. Fade is the edges cut to blend in with your hair on top from bald to low to the top of the sides and back.

          | Great post BiggMike.  Man I feel like I am on the wrong side of the tracks but I just wanted to come show y'all some love over here.   We as a society have a lot of growing and mending to do.  I guess we have it hard b/c we are recovering from years of being told that our skin and hair were too dark, to kinky, too this and too that by our European slavemasters-- and we've held it, carried it, and passed over those same untruths to our children both consciously and subconsciously.  Even on the all female hairboards we have these same dilemmas and issues with hair---particularly the relaxed versus natural hair debate.   Do the sistah's who relax their hair hate their true blackness?  How natural is really natural? Should you press your hair straight or use curl defining products if you have truly accepted yourself and are really satisfied with the natural hair God has given you?  Its so amazing that these issues really run so much deeper than hair.  Just my lil two cents.

          | Thank you sistaslick. I needed the young men to hear from a sista. Some of the guys really hurt from this dilemma and it's dividing a once strong people. Some of them are young and don't understand what they are about to be up against as Black/African American MEN is this society. Did you know that a white man with a felony has 60% more of a chance of getting a job than a Black man with a college degree right now in NY, CA, and of course TX (my home)????? This statistic came from BET News and CNN. They think it's a game. Well, if it's a game somebody had better explain the RULES to them before death, prison, or drug addiction happens. And it needs to be a MAN not a woman. A MAN is subject to a different set of rules than a woman, so he is better suited to explain these rules than the mother. I know some women may get upset with this but who cares, I don't. They think they know but don't. Maybe they will feel me now! It's time to wake up, pull the pants up, put the blunts down, and be a real MAN. Seek the truth about your culture even if you are of two different cultures. Ignorance is bliss, but it hurts you when you don't vote or can't vote, don't have a good job, can't support your seeds/children, using drugs, women putting you down, whites putting you down, all other races putting you down, and you running around thinking you got it going on. Find out the truth and have some pride. Real MEN stand up and be counted!

DITTO!! You know I feel you on this, this just re-emphasizes the importance of a man's role as the head in our homes and in our young peoples lives, a Black King raising young queens and especially young kings teaching them to grow up and rule our society with a better standard of morals and respect. But we have to stop the hatred toward one another and educate ourselves before we can expect people of other races or cultures to understand our struggles. B/C in their eyes it doesn't matter if you are light skin or dark skin, to them you are black... period. We create division ourselves by deciding whats excepted, dark vs light, good hair vs bad hair. People with so called "good hair" wish they had kinky hair so they can do more with it. My daughter is ten and has even went through this, at one time she was the only black girl in her class so she would ask me why her hair was not straight like the other lil girls and why was she more "tanner" than the other girls. She might have been six or seven at the time, imagine explaining that to a six year old. Even now, she wants a relaxer,  I refuse to relax her hair, not saying that i won't when she's a lil older, but I tell her that she has "good strong hair" now, and a relaxer will destroy all that. When we can accept ourselves the way we are, it's easier to accept others, when they can't accept us it's their demon to deal with. Can't stand fa people to call me "redbone", I'm not that lite- I call myself "Papersack Brown ".  For me it's about preference, so imma take ya back to what we use to say when I was younger, the blacker the berry the sweeter the juice, and ooooh how sweet it is!!! One thing that surprised me when I deployed to Somalia, some of them were some of the darkest people I had I ever seen, black as tar, but they were BEAUTIFUL!!!, and if you just happen to see a woman with her hair out, it was long and pretty and what we call "good hair", nothing like what they show on those commercials (they have those too but that's not the whole Africa).

          | You are right Blazer, but the only problem is that it is embedded in our "American" culture. It was bread into our families. Why do you think most dark skin people are poor in this country. Why do you think the lighter skin people in the same race make more money and have more oppotunities? Because society decide who gets what regardless of education. It's still being used to divide our entire race. We not only have to deal light skin vs dark skin, but now it's male vs female. It's really sad. The only way to deal with this is to talk about it and bring it to the light. It does not help to sweep it under a rug, because the minute you apply for a J.O.B. or find youself being excluded from employment and the right own a home, it will come up.   It's not everybodies favorite subject to talk about because it's painful and we would rather pretend it does not happen so we don't have to confront it. The issue does not get solve thinking like that. White people who don't want to confront racism also don't want to talk about it because they benifit from racism.  I wonder is that why light skin people, who benifit from their lighter skin tone, would rather not talk about it because they benifit too? Just wonder?

          | Thanks fellows, I knew I could depend on your support. Not all light skin people avoid this subject. But I find that many do. Louis Farrakahn is a light skin African American and he digs right in when it comes to discussing sensitive subjects like discrimination and skin color, of course he's a leader. There are more leaders out there too.

          | On that light vs dark, see Spike Lee's movie School Daze, he addresses the same issues. plus it's a good movie. BIGMike you couldn't have said it any better that you already said it, those that benefit from it refuse to talk about it, EVEN if they see the discrimination and know that it exists. But to confront the issue would be like taking money out of their own pockets, or food off their tables, or giving their promotion away to someone that might have actually worked hard and deserved to get it.  That's where ignorance comes in b/c white people being oblivious to qualifications and seeing only the color of a persons skin would rather give a job to a light skin person rather than a dark skin person, being aware but not totally to the concept that regardless of how you see them they are still Black, African Americans, you can't make them white no matter how light they are. And this is where we SEE the discrimination and yet refuse to put an end to it, instead we embrace it b/c it pays the bills. I see it every single day in the military, you know why? Before joining the military some of these people have never left their home towns and NEVER EVER seen a black person or a white person in real life, up close, or touched one, let alone God forbid talked to one. I cannot tell you how many times people asked me "they have black people in Missouri?" - well yeah!  so this whole "race thing" is all new to them and some of them have to deprogram what they have been taught all their lives, and try to co-habitat with other races. And we are the hardest on our own kind, it's so so sad, but so so true. We are like crabs in a barrel. But you know how we handle it BIGMike? we do just what you said we shouldn't do, we brush it under the rug, oh we have mandatory classes on this stuff, but who wants to hear that we have racism and prejudice and sexism in the military? no one, but it's there so imagine when you have to not only deal with Black vs White vs Hispanics vs Asians vs Islanders vs Native American vs male vs female vs light vs dark vs junior rank vs senior rank and the list just keeps going.....but tolerate it to a certain level b/c there is a blanket of denial that states we will provide equal opportunity and fair treatment to EVERYONE without regard to race, gender, color, religion, or national origin. And even if you know different you better keep in house cus that's family business. Even culture can be a concern, we have a lot of people that come from one race but was brought up in a another type of culture. for example: we have this one guy, he looks black, got that "black hair", but he tells people he is white, you know when you have to mark your race on an application form - he marks white. is he white? does he even look close to it? resemble it even? NO!!! but he say his mama white- you can't tell that either and his daddy is black, so he considers himself white, is he crazy? no, he is highly ignorant, confused and uneducated. did he get that way on his own, probably not, I'm sure someone in his family had to tell him that. somebody failed him, we are the ones failing our own people, "US" we are failing each other, if you ever see me slide by the way side, don't pass me by, reach out and give this sistah a helping hand and pull me up, or a slap up side the head and bring me back to my right mind, please!

This sister knows her culture and is not afraid to say something about it. I see why she's in the military, she's brave and smart too. Thanks Sister! We are failing each other. Do you know what the hardest job in the world is? Trying to talk to black people about the misconceptions and bias attitudes in our own race. It's like pulling teeth in the dark with a tweezers. Everybody has an opinion but they're on the defence if it envolves actively doing something about it.  MLK was attacked constantly by his own people, Malcom X was attacked constantly by his own people, Sista Soldier (formally of PE) is attacked for standing up against the degredation of black women, and I am/will be attacked for speaking out by my own people.  I know this will happen and I expect it just as Malcom and Martin expected it.   Some people have never been taught about African American pride. Oh it's one thing to talk about the civil rights struggle in the 60's, it's another thing to talk about the year 2005 and beyond. People don't want to hear it. It's like salt on a snail. They think you're a trouble maker. No the person that's in denial is a trouble maker for the entire race. They are the ones creating problems and denying their envolvement.

          | God is with me so who's against me? Black men we have to wake up and stand up. Be strong, and have faith in your beliefs. You know right from wrong, so speak the true and you will be blessed. Our hair is only one issue of concern. There are many more concerns that have not been addressed. Think about it brothers. What have you done today to help yourself and to help your people? I know what I've done today on 07/27/05, planted seeds.

          | Farrakahn is a prime example of a Black man who made his path and did not let his path make him. Although I don't agree with all of his beliefs, I do support African American nationalism (Pro Black). We need to help ourselves. But I do not support blaming white people for all of our problems, neither does Farrakahn. We create some of our own problems being ignorant. Ignorance is bliss but it hurts us. We have to respect each other and learn to give each other a chance to make it. Crabs in barrel pull each other down, can we help each other without the slave mentality. MTV and BET is not the way that we should pattern our lives. I wish I could hear comments and thoughts from the MEN on this site. I've heard from a WOMAN and she had more to say than any MAN on this site. She's very strong and aware of what we face. As usual a strong sista steps up while the men sit back and say nothing. Can I hear from the MEN in more than one sentence. How about a few sentences? Four words don't qualify as a sentence, not here, not about this subject, and not with me.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree. Sure there was fighting amongst African tribes and such, but not like it is when white people come into the picture. If you saw the movie Hotel Rwanda (I'm sure you didn't so go get the DVD) the introduction tells of how this massive war got started. When the Dutch came the selected one tribe as the better one and gave them more oppertunities to succed. After a few hundred years the Dutch left but they put the oppressed group in charge. In any situation, dealing with adults (because children react differently), there will be lots of anger and vengence in their hearts. Therefore the the oppressed people began to treat the other tribe with such malice that they killed them. Now this would have never happened if the Dutch had not come in a divided them.   The divisions in the Black American community are also the result of the degredation by whites. If you really want to know why our community is in such disarray find and read the speech by Willie Lynch called "How to Make a Slave". I refuse to post a link to it because I'm not your mother and I refuse to spoon feed you the truth. If you really want to know it, you'll find it on your own. If you prefer to stay in the dark and remain ignorant continue on your dark path of ignorance. Please, don't quote what I'm saying either respond or move forward. | The divisions in the Black American community are also the result of the degredation by whites. This is also true. It's called divide and conquer. Like right now in an office enviroment (corporate america), did you know that many many comapies are composed of a majority of females. Black females are getting job that very few have ever had in our history. This is a good thing right? Yes and No. Because whites are more comfortable with Black women, they promote them and give them opportunities that Black men are denied. We are too big and agressive they say. We are to out spoken and not will to humble ourselves like females. Black women, bless their hearts, they sell out their race in corporate America. They put us down because of thier success with white people. This why they can't find a man. No real MAN will put up with selling out, fake hair, straight hair, weaves, and bleached skin to look more whiter. Black MEN will not do this, so they skip us and give the job to a light skin female with no African pride. Because of her job, she feels Black men are lazy and uneducated, when really one of the main reason she got the job is because she is a female and black, and willing to sell out. She's a double minority. They get a chance to have a female and a racial minority in one. She then believes she don't need a man, and her children don't need a father. So she puts him on child support and divorce him. This is called killing two birds with on stone. This is call divide and conquer.

          | bg05 I respect you brother for speaking up and saying what you feel. This is good for everybody on the board. We need to hear how everyone feels. You are a smart person and I believe you are aware of what's going on. Boys N the Hood was a good movie for reality. It showed how it is in the hood for some people. I remember when I first saw it, it really suprised me at how REAL it was. The scene with the little boys finding a dead body in the alley, that was me and my brothers finding a body in the field across the street from our house. We were on our way to school when my brother tripped over the body in a tall grass field. Red ants where coming out of his eyes, nose, and ears. I think I was about 12 or 11 and my brothers  were 7 and 6 . We went to school with images of a dead Black man in our minds.  Boyz N tha Hood was good for reality. Do you know how fast Black men are dieing right now in the US. There are 5 or 6 Black females to each male. The males that are still alive are going through pure hell right now. Rejection, outcasts, misunderstood, ignored opinons, no support, very few older males to be a role model, dad is dead or in jail or on drugs, mom works all day or collect welfare and childsupport, our mothers grow up with out a father only hearing a one sided opinion of life, and top off with employment discrimination too. It's too much! We had better get a college education and be strong for ourselves because the people around us are weak!  This is not about being negative, this is about REALITY not MTV or BET, but REALITY. This is the real world we live in but it's not on TV. Think about how I just came to you. It's all out of love MEN.

While the black community is divided it's not all "their" fault that black men aren't getting hired. You have to acknowledge some wrong doing on your part. Black men feel that society at large owes them something which makes them less adaptable in professional situations. Black men don't want to be seen as submissive therefore they don't respond well in positions of less authority. On the other hand, black women may get hired but then we have this glass ceiling to contend with. All women have to deal with being the last person ever considered for a promotion black women are hardly ever considered because of harsh, but often times VERY TRUE stereotypes. Black women are always seen as being bossy, loud, and vengeful and from what I've seen, we are. For the most part black women can't control their anger or temper their attitudes long enough to hear the entire story. Many black women are very hotheaded and refuse to "take mess", but at the same time we waste energy by fighting every battle that comes our way. If black women would stop catching an attitude with every statement that's made towards them then we could move forward in the work force. I understand that not all black men refuse to "submit" and not all black women are "neck rolling hot-heads" but the majority of them are and this is something each of us as blacks need to address.
| Because of her job, she feels Black men are lazy and uneducated, when really one of the main reason she got the job is because she is a female and black, and willing to sell out. Willing to sell out?!? Wow, this is why we are where we are. Black people don't support each other at all. You see a "sister" get a job in an office building speaking English properly and abiding by the dress code and she's a sellout. You have another "sister" who just got fired from McDonald's because she doesn't want to tuck her shirt in so she caught an attitude with the manager and she's staying black. Wow, you guys have a distorted sense of what's good and bad. It's not that black women feel that they don't need a man it's just that in situations of unplanned pregnancy the woman is forced to "sellout" while the guy is free to skip out if he so chooses. In the same instance he may decide to stay but doesn't know what to do. Of course he doesn't want to lose his youth and get a serious 9-5 to support this new child but at the same time he doesn't want to abandon his responsibilities. As the months progress she urges him to find work because the baby is coming, yet all he hears is nagging. Neither of them can handle the stress the other is placing on them so she decides it's best that he leaves. In situations like this it's no one's fault. He doesn't want to grow up and she doesn't want to be seen as a pain so they split. The welfare system has also created the single black mother. It is easier for a single parent to get assistance than it is for a couple therefore a man feels that he is more helpful if he leaves.

          | Welfare system is destroying an entire race. You are right! Free food, free housing, and a monthly check. Just think, they don't need a man to help pay the rent, don't need a man to help buy food, don't need a man for his income. Well, what are men on this earth for other than to be a bank account and a sperm donor. This is what welfare 2005 has to offer an African American family. Oh, yea if she's a single mother the whole society will feel sorry for them, but if you are a single father, well you get the same treatment as all the other men, cause we all are the same right? Not all men grew up without a strong father that is the head of the house. My father wears the pants and my mother, she wear panties. Like father, like son. Not all of us want to run from children, the problem is, are we allowed to be the man on the job or at home. No we are not. So it's hard to feel like we are a part of society. That's why so many brother do what they want to and don't ask or consider what the other person wants. Why? Because nobody gives us a choice and nobody cares what we think in corporate America or at home. Have we been taught to  take care of our children? Some have and some have not. It's real easy to see why some men don't take care of their children when their mother made welfare and handouts their husband. Young boys learn to be bad fathers from their own parents. A black male without a father is more than 70% likely to be put on childsupport just as a black female without a father has a 80% chance of being a single mother getting childsupport. Divorce is out of contol in America and even more so in the Black community. Over half of the black male population is afraid to reproduce because of the welfare system and how some sisters let childsupport or careers/college degree(s) take the place of a MAN. They totally forget that a black man is not accepted or respected by the very system that they replace us with. After all a black man is not valued by his own family first, before him or his children are every put in a racist system like welfare or childsupport..............Your thoughts?

My thoughts are that you are just another angry black man who is trying to pass the buck for why you or other men may not have successful relationships. It sounds like you are trying to make the man the victim when in situations of divorce and welfare and child support, when it's everyone's fault. If you don't want a woman to abuse the welfare system or collect child support TAKE CUSTODY OF YOUR CHILDREN. Or better yet be more scrupulous about whom you decide to engage with sexually. Men would love to believe that they have no control over getting "trapped" by a woman, it's quite easy to avoid. Don't have sex with her if you think she's trying to trap you. If you don't like a woman to condescend you for not being as educated as she is, GET AN EDUCATION. I'm tired of hearing lazy ass black men talk about how hard it is for them to make it the world without "hustlin". It's hard for everyone. Either grow a pair and deal with the hardships of higher education or deal with being treated like a second class citizen by a woman who has worked her ass off for an education. Trust me, a real woman will respect you as long as you put forth a genuine effort. If you truly fear and despise the welfare system and the process of child support, take an active stand. Educate those around you because if you can get one person to change their destructive ways it will effect some many other lives in a positive way.

          | Black men are not lazy, sorry you don't understand that. Do you have any idea how many college educated brothers there are with BA's and Master Degrees that are unemployed because of racism and sexism. Stop hating. You are not a man and you need to check yourself. A black female, who wants to pass as MAN, treaspassing on a mans website, calling Black men lazy and uneducated.  You are the fake. Aint nothing but REAL men over here. And don't use foul language on HB's site. And don't make personal attacks on me or any other person on this site. You are violating our space. Gotta go, Gotta go bg05 Who? Fake

My thoughts are that you are just another angry black man who is trying to pass the buck for why you or other men may not have successful relationships. It sounds like you are trying to make the man the victim when in situations of divorce and welfare and child support, when it's everyone's fault. If you don't want a woman to abuse the welfare system or collect child support TAKE CUSTODY OF YOUR CHILDREN.
| bg05 wrote:

I see that you are in to making personal attacks on BiGG Brothers who you don't even know. Do you read anything written by people with African Pride. Becasue if you did you would know not to test a Strong African American MAN. A person who was born a male and lives as a MAN in this society not able to role shift and shape shift like some people. The "Same" rules apply to us our whole lives, not just when we feel like jumping the fence. This is the problem that DARK SKIN BROTHERS have to deal with. Some people think they KNOW what a black mans life is like in the 2005 in America, but benifit from being a woman when she feels like it. We are MEN all the time. What will happen to me if I go to a womans website and start attacking the women for stating facts? No female is coming here runing anything on a MANS site. I respect you, and you will respect me and this site. Read the name of the site! MENS 360 WAVE PART II.
Personal attack on African American MEN will not be tolerated. Can African American men have anything in 2005. I know who I am, do you? You will be dismissed if you disrespect MENS African Culture, sista sell out.  We don't shape shift over here. Respect it or leave, we don't need you here! Those are your only options.  This is MENS 360 Waves. Not MEN haters 360 Waves.       That is all!

          | I'm sorry for the disruption brothers. We had a "wanna be" who thinks that putting down Black MEN will be allowed. Not! She said "you are trying to make the man the victim when in situations of divorce and welfare and child support, when it's everyone's fault."
First of all MEN are the victims in most divorce cases here in America. You must be living in another world (female world) if you think men are not being victimized. There are some men that come out on top of divorce but they are few. Civil Courts will hang any man out to dry in the sun if he gets divorced and there are children envolved. Read Scientific books on Black men and divorce and find out for yourself. Dr Erma Jean Lawson wrote "Black Men and Divorce".  This is a Black woman who is very educated in the Field of Sociology, She's a college professor and a strong Black Woman. What I say is a fact! I'm not playing games here. There are some women out there that can tell the truth and can take the truth too. This is not "How to be Ghetto", this is "How not to be Ghetto"! Wake up people, Wake Up! Please keep it real. Have some pride and face facts that are hurtful but true. Bill Cosby was right to a certain degree and you know it. We Must Wake Up. I'm not a preacher, I'm a MAN in America that's looking at the destruction of a once strong people right before my eyes. At lease some one is steping up to talk about Dark Skin Brothers. This is about Dark Skin Brothers Hair. Don't you understand this. THINK! Malcom was attacked, Martin was Attacked, and Black MEN and their manhood are being attacked daily!

I see some MEN know what a MAN is and what a woman is. Others, well they think they are women too. This is MENS 360 Waves, You dig! If you are confused, I feel sorry for you. No REAL fathers, racial discrimination, sexual confusion, and no morals too, I truely feel sorry for anyone in that position. MEN stand up, those who still remember what a MAN is. I keep saying America is sick and Black MEN are stuck right in the middle of the confusion and destruction. I know who I am, do you? God bless they hearts, it's sad but, you can go where she went if you TEST! That's Right!

http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxmk660YYKR"> UUMM HUM, Its me Female, Can I come in?? Been trying to hold my tongue and not intrude here, b/c this page was gettin a lil heated, but it wouldn't be me if I didn't throw my few cents in. I've read all the postings and I agreed with some of the info and some I didn't, one thing I have to stand behind BIGGMike on is Men taking the lead, men being the HEAD of the homes, this goes back to what the bible says, BIGGMike is good with breaking it down the black history way, well imma share with you the biblical way. Mostly everyone knows the story of Adam and Eve in the garden and how they were deceived by the serpent and ate fruit from the tree they were commanded not to.  Genesis 3:6, When the woman saw that the fruit was good for food..for gaining wisdom, she took ..and ate it. She gave to her husband ...and he ate it. When they hid from God b/c of their nakedness and He questioned them about it, they both passed the blame. Adam blamed "that woman you put here with me", and the woman blamed the serpent. Because of what they did, God cursed them, in Genesis 3:16 God tells Eve her desires will be for her husband and he (her husband) will rule over her, signifying the husbands headship over her. This was not God's original desire, Genesis 1:27-29 shows no distinction between the two, he gave them both rule over the fill of the earth. But this time God told Eve that her husband will have rule over her, so there should be no doubt in her mind.  God told Adam, b/c he listened to his wife (the woman) and ate from the tree which I commanded you. "you must not eat of it". This is where they went wrong b/c God told ADAM, the man, not to eat of the tree and knowing what God had told him he listened to that woman and ate it anyway. He should not have eaten it nor allowed Eve to eat it. God had just made Adam ruler overall his earthly creation and yet he failed to control this woman, so God had to establish some order and put the Man as the Head.  It is ordained this way.  It is a man's rightful place to take the lead in his home, not to abuse but to live by the commands God gives him. on another note.......I agree with everyone having an opinion and being able to express their views and opinions, but I just want to point out to those of you that were so quick to defend ms adot. If you go back and read her very first post, she came off wrong to begin with. I have seen on several other forums where you all are quick to defend each other, and when one steps out of line or gets a lil brash with the words, you all check each other, out of brotherly love no doubt. What I saw here was a conversation of two people that had very strong and some judgmental opinions, but when it turned personal some were quick to defend adot, and I want to say it was b/c she was a female, gender is no excuse for disrespect. I could be wrong but that's my assumption. But just check out some of the things she said in her first posting alone....
I'm sorry but I have to disagree. Sure there was fighting amongst African tribes and such, but not like it is when white people come into the picture. If you saw the movie Hotel Rwanda (I'm sure you didn't so go get the DVD)
Yes there is fighting amongst African tribes and such, the such being African American people in general, and no it's not always when white people come in the picture, but when our own, come in the picture and make snide remarks of an implied insult to and about someone they nothing about.
If this doesn't say you are lacking in a state of intellectual acuity, I don't know what does. In other words it means your stupid.  The divisions in the Black American community --If this aint the pot calling the kettle black. What exactly does degradation mean? To bring down, to dishonor, disgrace, to lower in moral or intellectual character. And this is the result of white people? Yet our own people post comments implying the same thing. How can you blame another race for the same crime you commit against your own people.  I'm sorry but I don't feel it's OK to make personal attacks of this nature on anyone, especially someone you don't know, and it's not OK to defend it.   We won't always agree on everything, doesn't mean we have to hate or attack each other,  let's just agree to disagree.  We can still learn something from each other, even when our opinions differ. I apologize for the lengthiness.
