Hello, 1st time poster, long time lurker here.

I'm interested in getting this style and would like to know exactly how it's done.  What I mean is, should I just go to my regular barber and tell him to cut the top of my hair a certain length (I think I read some where that 2-3" is a good length for this style, please correct me if I'm wrong)?  And then manipulate my hair at that length with styling products?

Or, would it be better for me to go to an actual hair stylist?  How would a stylist cut my hair differently to get my hair the way I want it?

I'm new to this, so please pardon my newbie ignorance.

Thanks.

bring a picture. it makes it simple to you and your stylist/barber. depending on experienced and type of education, a barber and stylist can cut your hair differently. since a barber cuts only mens hair (usually) he knows what to do. but a stylist has a more formal education and is more up to date with fashion, so he/she might know how to style/cut your hair better.

it depens on choice really.
