im trying to get my hair back to my natural ash blonde but
no matter what I do it just goes a different shade of orange, iv tried toners,
iv tried going to the salon numerous times but nothing is working! I dyed my
hair a light brown colour tonight but of course its got a 'lovely’ orange tinge
to it. To top it off im getting married in 4 weeks! |

Thats awful. If I were you, with a wedding in 4 weeks, I'd find a new salon(one with a colorisist that has lots of experience in corrective color). Ask around where you live and you're bound to find someone who can fix the mess you're in. With such an important day coming soon, now is not the time torture your hair. A good colorist should be able to correct this. Good luck and congrats!

I find it difficult to find a salon because im Muslim so normally
I ask if they have a back room with a sink, and iv had 1 lovely lady deliberately
colored my hair orange after I said 'DO
NOT UNDER ANY CERCUMSTANCES MAKE IR ANY SHADE OF ORANGE OR RED' needless to say
I left crying and minus $90. |

Thats horrible.I think That stylists often forget there doing a job.You tell them what you want and they do it cause your paying them! Or thats what is supposed to happen at least. Did the stylist at least try to give you what you wanted and screwed up,or did she do this on purpose? In either case I wouldnt reccommend going back to that salon. I'm so sorry you had such an awful experience. But dont get down 4 weeks is still enough time to fix a coloring faux pas.Good luck and with your wedding! Keep the board posted on how your hair comes along. |

Go to Sally or another beauty supply shop and get a bottle of dye and
20 volume developer. (If your hair is midback length - 2 bottles
of dye, 3 if it's waist length). The dye HAS to have a green base
to counter the orange. (The base is written on the dye). If your
hair now is lighter than the color you want, choose a shade thats
"slightly" more of a light brown and by your wedding it should have
faded to about the shade you want. Otherwise choose a shade close to
what you want...just make sure it has a green base. Normally I would say please go to a salon, but you've been having a lot of trouble so maybe this is a better route. Be aware that you may have to dye it more than once to completely counter the orange (if it's very orange). Doing a test strand on a hidden strand of hair is a good idea. I just noticed you're in Australia so I don't think you have a Sally. Is there another beauty supply shop you can go to? If not, I would then look at what's available at the the local store and call the company (they should have a phone number on their website or on the box) to ask them what base is in which of their colors. There is a very good product made by Clairol called Complements and you would need to use the Ash series with 10vol developer since you are trying to deposit and not lift. Have the person at Sally's where you can get this help you with the level you'll need. The Ash is Complements is a blue based color, blue neutralizes orange and makes it a normal brown looking color. |

Yea we don’t have sally’s here, I was thinking about it as i
was going to sleep (well actually it kept me up) im gonna have to start all
over again, there is no way i can get to my natural colour (ash blonde) from
this. |

Sakeenah, do you wear a head scarf? I'm asking cuz I guessed you wanted to go to back of the salon becuz you have to remove it rite (when you wash and everything)? Just my guess cuz you mentioned being Muslim. I think u might be able to find salon's where they have a seperate area for ladies, and one for guys. If not, just express your concerns, if what I asked is correct and they should be able to help you out!  But it's good that you've decided to see a pro abt this, particularly if you're new to coloring. Orange is no fun if ur aiming for ash blonde so just find a REALLY good colorist that can do a color correction, and you should end up w/ the hair u've been tryna achieve! All the best!

Yea I wear a scarf; I can remove it in front of ladies or
selective males (husband, father, sons, brothers, grandfather). As far as I
know we don’t have any segregated salons and if we did husbands would still go
in and out, lol I like to feel relaxed not have to worry about whether some1 is
going to see my hair. |

| FINALLY! i found a new salon today, the ladies were really nice and the colour and cut is hott! (they cut my waist length hair to just past bra strap level) |
