In honor of Farrah Fawcett's visit to Regis & Kelly this morning, Kelly
is sporting a "Farrah-like" '70s 'do on today's show, lots of volume,
side part, flipped back, and some assorted curls around the bottom.
In fact, one minute into the show she got mad at Regis for not
noticing her hair, and admitted when she was growing up she'd
wanted to be a Charlie's Angel, with hair to match, and started
swinging it around pretending to be an Angel

As I've gotten really (and I mean REALLY) tired of her standard,
long, drab, middle-part, flat style, I'm hoping she enjoyed this little
foray into volume and curl and decides to stick make a permanent
change that might involve long bangs, less length, and more layers
and curls... would be a nice change! (IMHO of course)

Many people seem to feel Kellys current look isn't great. I disagree. I prefer her hair longer,  like the cut, and on most days the style. I only wish she would darken up the colour a bit. Here's a previous  look with shorter hair, and more volume...

I was going to post about this same topic!  Very few can pull off the Farrah "wings" but I thought Kelly looked adorable this morning (sorry, I couldn't find a pic).  However, I love her look.  When you find something that works for you, what's wrong with sticking with it?

Maybe there's hope that she'll play around with curls and stuff for a while.  Several months back (maybe even last year?) she wore her hair in big, loose curls for one of the weddings on their show.  For a couple of weeks after, she sported the curls, too.  I guess several people must have told her how fantastic she looked, so she went with it...

I finally found some pics.  Click on the link, then go to Tuesday, April 5.  There are several shots of her with the "Farrah" hair.  I still like it.  I don't think she should wear it that way every day or anything, but it was a fun change since Farrah was on the show!

First thing this morning on the show, she told regis she got her haircut and color done yesterday...he asked if she liked it and she said yes...she never mentioned how much she had taken off, but it is definitely shorter...i'd guess about 2 inches taken off...

Certainly about 6-8 more could have come off for a refreshing change...but that's my two cents.

Definately a fun look for Kelly! She looks good in any "do". Would love to see her go much shorter. A pixie perhaps.

After waiting so many days (months? years?) for Kelly to do something
different, I shouldn't complain about this cut. But... I will. She seems to
have left in all the elements that make the cut boring and somewhat out
of date (straight, flat, no bangs, curls, flips, waves, layers) and just cut the
ends off. The length isn't even interesting - not quite off the shoulders,
not quite long.

The pix posted in this thread prove what we already know - she'd look
great with short hair and a new style! Hope she tries it someday...

Alvin, not to pick on you, but I am going to use you as an example of why some posts and opinions get ignored or derided, much to the surprise and chagrin of the poster:

When your signature says: "short is good, buzzed is better, bald is best!!!", is there really any point in posting "Would love to see her go much shorter. A pixie perhaps."?  We can see that comment coming a mile away.  Much like we know KramerGord will bemoan any longhaired lass that cuts her hair, Dave Decker will bristle at the suggestion that long hair may not be the most flattering look and that a cut would be a good idea, Kureneko (sp?) will say that any woman with hair longer than a bob looks horsey and unattractive, and Hal and Curlyfan usually want whatever style is discussed to be a little shorter/more layered/flippier/bangier/whatever.

Am I saying that folks don't have the right to post their opinions?  Absolutely not.  That's why the board is here.  Everyone is entitled to their express their personal preferences and insights as long as they aren't offensive or violate board policy.

All I'm asking is that folks not be so gosh darned PREDICTABLE.  What do I mean by that?  Simply that if I showed you a picture of a celebrity and asked you thought of their hair and what they should do with it, I shouldn't be able to tell you what you are going to say before you even open your mouth (or touch your keyboard).

Just give it a little thought before you post.  Heck, part of the reason you don't see me post all that much is by the time I get to a thread and start to form an opinion, the familiar lines have been drawn over the first five, six, seven responses and it drains any desire I have to actually engage in a discussion over the topic.  My favorite posts are when KramerGord admires a shoulder-length layered style or luvshort&blonde (sp?) praises a long brunette 'do.  Anything that shows a bit of analysis and not just the standard knee-jerk reaction intrigues me and draws me into the discussion.

Ok, off my soapbox.  Feel free to flame me or tell me I'm way off base.  Just wanted to let you know how I see things here on the monitors in the Fleacave under stately Jerky Manor.

As usual,

JerkyFlea

P.S. Loved Kelly's Farrah 'do.  And I think she looked good with long, lightly layered hair.  New cut isn't bad except that it appears to be a slightly different style that she's insisting on styling the same way as the old cut.  Easy trap to fall into.  Maybe try a side part or really flip out the additional layers for variety.

And I'm pretty sure Hal and Curlyfan will agree with me on that.

Thanks JF, I agree as well, even as a member of the offending party! It's
tricky to have built-in preferences on fashion and style (which I think
absolutely everyone has to some degree) and still remain neutral and
open-minded when discussing it. I think as long as views are expressed
with tolerance and respect we'll do fine.

Back to Kelly news. Saints be praised, this morning she showed up with
curls! Predictably, I loved it, so glad she did something different and
added some volume and style.

She and Regis talked about it a bit and she confessed to some
indecisiveness about her current style and recent cut, hinting, "Yeah, but
don't you think it could be just a little shorter?" Regis was absolutely no
help, making stupid "women are never satisfied" comments instead of
reassuring or encouraging her (one of many times I wished I was sitting in
his chair), and encouraging her to go dark, as "so many blondes are doing
these days."

So maybe Kelly will go a bit shorter. I hope so, cause I think she'd look
great with a shoulder-length, banged, layered 'do, and I don't care if you
knew I was gonna say that! :-)

Oh, c'mon, after all these years, you're gonna pick now to get all puffy and "I'll take my ball and go home" with me?   All I was sayin' is to simply not parrot the same opinion over and over no matter who the celeb in question is.  You and Curlyfan at least have the motivation of suggesting the layered/banged/flippy look because it can be done in multiple different styles 'cause you both like change (unless I've been misreading y'all's posts all this time).  So, you aren't promoting the same style for everyone, just the idea of changing a style.  Still predictable () but at least sparks discussion because you don't always propose the same exact style.

Well, maybe Curlyfan does, but that's only because he's watched Kelly LeBrock in "Weird Science" too many times.

Speaking of my fixated friend and back on topic, he wrote about Kelly that...

Originally posted by Curlyfan Curlyfan wrote:

...which leads me to believe that Kelly wanted a change, didn't know exactly WHAT she wanted, compromised (e.g., she wanted it shorter, the stylist wanted it longer and so they went in the middle) and now isn't really happy with it and doesn't quite know what to do with it.

So, Curlyfan may get his wish for a bigger change after all.

JF, I've never seen Weird Science! But it's going on my rental list now... :-)

mmmm.... Kelly LeBrock.....

Anyway, with regard to the other Kelly (Ripa), I suspect you're right, the
compromise cut was the result of a disagreement with the stylist. Maybe
she's more game for change than I gave her credit for. Maybe she will cut
it shorter. Maybe Regis will offer some much-needed encouragement.
Stay tuned...

Very funny, Flea, and very astute. I've even e-mailed women on local TV news when they've cut their hair, saying it looked better before the cut. And their hair was far from long before the cut. I've also e-mailed support for shoulder-length anchorettes whose hair looked great and one e-mailed me back to say she appreciated the compliment since they don't have high-priced hair people at their disposal and do it themselves.

How about this one: One of my favorite shorthairs is CNN anchorette Heidi Collins.

But even then I'm not sure if it's the hair or the face... and I sure would like to see her with long hair... just once!

I've been a fan of this site for a few years and recently decided to join. Sorry I was so "predictable" in just my second post. I understand the point that Jerky Flea was making, but I did state that this was a fun look for Kelly and that she looks good in any style. I mentioned the Pixie not just because of my fondness for the cut, but because Kelly has the face and features to pull it off. My signature line reflects a preference, but that doesn't mean I think that eveyone should look the same. Not all women could "get away" with an extremely short cut. I'm not eagerly awaiting the day that Kirstie Ally gets a flat top or the day the Tyne Daily shaves her head. having said that, I didn't really take the Fleas reply personsally. I just wanted to clarify my postion. Keep up the great work. Thanks

I LOVE Kelly's hair. I think the buttery blonde base color and baby blonde highlights she has are absolutely beautiful. Her hair is so shiny and thick. I just wish she actually did use pantene and the coloring products she advertises for. Or at least let us know the products she REALLY uses so we can attempt to have hair as gorgeous as her.

Is she a natural brunette??

On this morning's Live show, Kelly and Regis had an interesting talk
about her hair. First Regis held up a New York paper with an article
about an apparent trend of women chopping off long hair, and said
his wife Joy was considering doing that.

Kelly then walked back to the pictures on the wall of the set and
grabbed a pic of her with her straight center-parted bob from a
couple of years back to show herself with short hair, and said she
actually really liked cutting it short once in a while.

Regis then asked her point-blank if she'd consider cutting it short as
a ratings stunt for sweeps month. He moved his hand to indicate a
jawline cut, and then said he was thinking REALLY short, like a pixie
(I'm not sure he knows how different those are). Eventually Kelly
said she would definitely consider it.

Regis was being quite obnoxious about it, and Kelly was clearly
annoyed by his behavior, which is a shame, because it
overshadowed the cut question. I think if he'd asked her reasonably,
they could've had a more detailed discussion of what she might do,
she would have committed more strongly to it, and he could've
brought the audience in for support. Instead she gave a passing "I'll
think about it" at the end of the segment. It amazes me that after all
these years on TV he still isn't too suave at times.

Kelly's hair also looked great this morning. She's returned the part to
the left side and it was very full with a few loose curls. They're also
giving a makeover to their staffer as part of their project to fix her
up on a date, and they said they'll reveal her new look Friday.

That's the news....

Before folks start foaming at the mouth about Kelly's impending Sweeps haircut, I have three words of cold water for you..."Hope and Faith".

Though she's off the soap, she's still got a network show to take into account and I'm pretty sure the producers won't be too keen on her getting the big chop that they'd then have to compensate for with wigs and/or storyline.  I don't think they've reached the safe status of "Friends" or even "Married With Childeren" yet, where a character can get away with wearing a wig for a couple of seasons.

Just my humble opinion,

JF

As one of the few contributers here who thinks Kelly should probably never go any shorter, I seem to be in the minority. However, I would like to see her experiment a bit with style, curl, and volume, which she did last night for Letterman. Really loved this look on her...
