I received my order of the thermofibre from American Dream today! I bought one weft of 18" thermofibre and the color ring. It looks nice and feels great!
After I finish my dinner, I'll take some pictures and post them for you all to see.
By the way, I called in my order exactly 1 week from today, so shipping from London to California only took a week, and I didn't pay extra for any express shipping.

Awesome! Can't wait to see the pics of it.
The shipping time is awesome. So why did my PH take over a month to get to me and how come we have to pay so much extra to get PH in one week?

I can't wait to see either. I'm also curious about the AD prices. I don't think I've ever seen a price list. :)

I tried to curl the hair with a '2' (out of 20 being the hotest) setting on my Con Air curling iron, and it made a little bit of a curl. Barrel size about 1".
The 18" long weft of thermofibre, 100 grams (= 3.5 ounces) cost about $20 US.
The regular shipping was also about $20 US.
The color ring was about $24 US.
These wefts are available in lengths 36" and 60" long also!
The catalogue says there are 18 thermofibre colors to choose from, but the ring has 28 colors on it, so I don't know if all those colors are acutally available.
I wanted to see how this hair would actually look, so I grabbed my nearest willing model.... don't mind the lipstick kiss print on his nose!

Amm, PH comes from Switzerland, not England- that means it has to cross
all of France, in addition to the Atlantic Ocean. Also, metalgirl
probably got Airmail shipping. That's the same thing as PH's Priority
(not Urgent) shipping. Their Economy shipping is basically Ground/Boat,
and even coming from the UK, Ground/Boat takes about 3-4 weeks. So it's
not really the vendor's shipping that's the issue, but rather the
shipping options that the country's postal system offer. Also, just a
suggestion, but if you have a problem with an aspect of a vendor's
service, wouldn't it be more productive to talk to them about it,
rather than be annoyed about it on the board? After all, if you have an
issue with PH's service, Sara can't do anythign about it unless you
tell her. :)
OT, but metalgirl- that is the cutest, fluffiest dog ever! What breed is it?

That's my Great Pyrenees, Frazier. He's 3 years old, he's rescue dog. It's hard to believe he was in a home that didn't want him! He was so skinny from being underfed when I got him. He weighed only about 100 pounds when I got him, and now I would say he's pushing 125+.
Under my 'Metalgirl' name are the pictures of Frazier and Alexa (also a Pyrenees) -my furry children.
Anyway, in the next few days I'm going to play around with this thermofibre. I'm going to try to curl it with hot rollers and see what it does. I'll let you all know.

The hair looks lovely, Metalgirl. Have you tried to heat it on a higher
setting? How does it compare to Prostyles, Dome, or PH? Or to the other
therms, like WaWa and HSF?
When you order over the phone (which I assume is currently the only way
to order?), do you just pay by credit card? Or is it a Paypal thing?
Frazier is a perfect 613 model! :)
Edited to say: And it sounds like AD's shipping is the same deal as
Dome's (since they're both U.K.)--about $20, so it pays to place larger
orders, but it does arrive pretty quick. :)

Oh, one more question Metalgirl: Does AD have pretipped synth, too? :)

Jenny, did you get the AD catalog? The prices are in it Im pretty sure. My catalog is packed away and at the new place so I cant look!

Are they? I'll have to look then. I packed it away somewhere too.... :)

Yes, the prices are in there for sure. I didn't see pretipped synth in there, tho. Don't recall pretipped ANYTHING, but could be wrong there.
Metalgirl, does the order come DHL the way Dome does where you have to sign for it? Oooohh I hate that cuz I'm never home for the delivery. Such a pain.
Also, I'm interested like the other gals as to how this thermo compares in texture and performance to WaWa. One of the Brits posted that she didn't like the AD thermo - that it tangled. Can you please let us know your comparisons? I would LOVE for AD to be comparable to WaWa in silkiness and curlability since it comes in so many colors.
Thanks!

Okay. Maybe we should start with that and make an order - one big time shipping charge and several smaller domestic charges. I'm in on that for sure. If anyone else is interested, please chime in!

If the not so natural colors are actually available not just ont he ring I could be interested in a big group order. My natural color needs are likely met by wawa. Though that dark brown slight hint of red color (near the top of the picture of the color ring) also looks promising...

OKAY THEN!
Now, should we wait til some of you get your catalogs, or do it sooner than that - like the end of this week or beginning of next?
And what do most folks think they want this round? What are you interested in? AD carries both human and synth, and more thermo colors than we've ever seen anywhere. I'm just going to get a thermo color ring and one weft of some color to check it out.

Well, if there's a bulk order, I'd love to get in on it, but I'm
probably not the best one to organize it. So if someone wants to
organize it, maybe they can set the parameters, based on what makes
most sense and won't create too much chaos, and start another thread in
this regard.
I have one question about the wefts: How wide are they (I believe the
inches quoted before were for lengths of the hair, correct?)
:)

Thermo for me!! I have a catalog but its packed away, although I could locate it pretty easily tomorrow. Does anyone have a thermofiber color ring?
|
Posted By: Syren123

Metalgirl just got one. The thermo now comes in 29 colors - TWENTY NINE COLORS OF THERMOFIBER!! - and four textures: silky straight, switch wave, french wave, and yaki bulk. Silky straight come in dying (wefted) and non-dying (bulk). Lengths are 18", 36", and 60" in wefts. 18 & 36 are 200g - twice the weight of a bag of PH - and the 60 is 400g. No indication of length of weft.
Prices for silky straight & switch wave:
18" weft: £9.95 ($18.73), 36":£19.95 ($37.55), 60":£32.95
($62.03).
Color Ring: £12.00 ($22.59)
I can organize this. I'll make a new thread - good idea.

I'm not sure if the AD order needed a signature. On the day it arrived, I was at work, but my mom was at my house and received the order. She then called me at work to tell me it came because she knew I was excited to be getting it.
The 18" 100 gram weft measures 60" wide.

Just to clarify on the shipping...I send a lot of International packages. AD just doesn't offer ground shipping which is 4-6 weeks for less cost like PH does. I've placed 3 PH orders and always specify air shipping and it's always here within 7 days for less than $20.
