Subject: sun-in on colored hair??

My hair is ranges from blonde highlights to light brown to med. brown, both browns with a faint redish tint (which was the remains of loreal color pulse).  My hair is naturally light-med blonde.  If I use sun-in on the brown parts of my hair, will I get orange?  Also there is a product by John Freida, Beach Blonde lemon lights.  Has anyone used this product and does it work better than sun-in?

I have one more question-this is probably dumb, but is it possible for hair to change color permanently as a result of dying it.  What I mean is that it has been 3 months since I had color put on my hair (except the loreal color pulse, which has been 1 month), and I do not have roots, except on the parts of my hair that were dyed the darkest.

Thanks for all advice and sorry if this is confusing-I'm confused now too.

Don't touch that Sun-In, it will ruin your processed hair.

Hair treatments only change the hair they treat, they do not affect the roots or future hair. If your roots don't look like they're growing in after a highlight job, it probably means your hair is growing slowly and your stylist did a good job.

please dont even try the sun in. it is a very aggressive form of bleach (i think even the clorox kind) and it is veryharmful to the hair. when you try to process over it, you run the risk of the hair falling apart. i do mean literally falling apart. if you want to get rid of the brown sections, go to a beauty supply store, pick up some 30 volume developer and some hair bleach, and apply it to the brown sections. then wait till the color comes out even, and rinse. then condition like mad.

Another dumb question: what is 30 volume developer?  and is this something a complete amatuer should even risk doing or should I just go back to the salon?  (just the thought of putting bleach on my hair makes me ill)  thanks again

30 volume developer is what is mixed with dye to make it work.  It's essentially hydrogen peroxide, but it's made for hair and not nearly as damaging as hydrogen peroxide alone would be (it has moisturizing ingredients in it).

Sun-In does not contain bleach as far as I know, it is hydrogen peroxide but without the moisturizing ingredients (and it will turn your hair orange, crayon yellow, and crunchy).  If you're uncomfortable doing your hair, definitely go to a salon.
