If i have used Colorfix on my dyed black hair and want to dye over it to get a light brown result - what shade of dye would i need to get? I have read differing posts on the board - some say you need a shade lighter than you want and some say just dye it the exact shade you want. Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks! |

Since your hair is probably very porous by now I'd recommend that you choose a color/toner that is 2 levels lighter than your target level. First of all I hope that your hair is orange or light orange possibly, because color won't lift so much color. I'd try a level 7 neutral blonde toner or dye if I was you Good luck to you |

| Just remember, it should have an Ash base, it counteracts the unwanted orangey tones that show up w/ colorfix. |

yeah I know, but what the hair is too light, than it may turn out a bit greenish. Anyway, if she still has a bit orange, it'll probably just turn out a warm shade of brown. |

It's really better to make your decision after you've used the color
fix so you can see exactly what color you're starting from. You

I'm with Susan...and use a semi-permanent ...not permanent, to get back to you natural. YOu could go one shade lighterthan you think..and if it's not quite strong enought to tone the orang go get the next shade darker and go a bit darker the next day ...or hour..that's the beauty of semi-permanent...you can feel free to layer it on the hair with minimal damage.
