First, this board is rockin....so much information and knowledge here it's unbeweavable...(okay, I had to add that).

I bought my hair from vixenwigs....supplies from haircandy.net....using shrinkies.

My questions are:

1.  Approximately how many pre-tips for a full head install?

2.  How far from the hair line on the sides and back do I go?

3.  How close to my part?

4.  Do I put my thicker pre-tips in the back and thinner ones on top?

5.  What does my hair need to be prepped....shampoo, conditioner, clean with no products?

Thanks so much for all your help!

Sherry

Welcome, Sherry.

A lot of this is subjective, but generally speaking...

1. If you're just adding extensions for thickness, 100 to 200 may be fine. If you're going short to long, probably around 200; if you're going short to long and want a very full look, it may take 250 to 300. So it all depends. If you are going short to long, I recommend doing every available space up to the desired point (no gaps or spaces between rows); if you're only adding thickness, the application can be a little more sparse.

2 and 3. Depends on the current style of your hair, the desired style, and especially the thickness and color of your hair. If your hair is very thick and dark, you may be able to go as close as an inch from the partlines and crown; with thin, fine hair that's blonde, you may only be able to go an 1 1/2 above the ears. You'll get a sense of this while you do your install though. Start from the bottom, about an inch in from the nape of the neck and hairlines, and work your way up. You can start as close as 1/2 inch from the nape and hairlines, but the extensions may be visible when you put your hair up. Then again, if your real hair is very short, this may be the case anyway. So it's really a matter of preference.

4. Yup. Thicker on the bottom, thinner on the top.

5. Yup, but I would recommend washing with a clarifying shampoo and using no conditioner.  While you have the shrinkies in, I would also not recommend using any conditioner on the roots, as it could encourage the shrinkies to slip.

Good luck! :)

Thanks Jenny for all your knowledge....

I want to add length so I guess 200 is the number.  Right now my hair is layered and almost shoulder length.  I have shorter layers in the back where my hair is thick...and chin length front and sides which are thin.....natural curl in the back and straight in the front....freaky, huh?    That means more dang pretipping....drats!  I bought proclaim, gorilla glue and the liquid glue.....LG and I don't mix well.

Question...do you super glue the whole tip that you liquid glued? or just the very top?

Right know I'm a perfect match to the 27/613.....I bought more 27 to mix in there though...too much 613 for me in my wefts.  I want to wear a pony tail....I live in on the eastern shore and am a beach nut in the summer.....not alot of swimming just driving my amigo on the sand and camping out with a book and the kids.....maybe a cap with a loose pony tail in the back??? or braid???

Thanks....again!
