Hey everyone! I'm new here, hoping you can help me out. I know this question has been asked many times, but please bear with me.. alright, I've dyed my hair red for 3 years (permanent) up until 6 months ago, my natural color is light very ash brown. I got sick of the color cause i realized it didnt look very good on me (except the burgundy or deep red ones). Basically I want to grow my hair out without it looking like rust. I called clairol and they said using an ash tone on my red hair would make it green, yet everything i read says they 'cancel' eachother out. Instead they told me to get a permanent neutral brown, i did, and it barely did anything to the red. I just want to use a semi perm but i dont want it to go darker, just tone out the red. Thank you guys!

Tracy

try to use a colour corrector. i think you can only get this done at salons. this stuff can correct the colour so you return to your natural shade

No, red and green makes brown together.
