There is not a product to use that will stop shrinkage. Curlly/kinky/coily hair shrinks when dry. It's an adaptation. After your wash your hair, you can braid it up. When it dries take down the braids. This will cause less shrinkage, but if you have alot of hair it will take a while to dry.

Maybe using heavier styling products will weigh your hair down and reduce the "shrinkage" factor.   (I had to laugh at your post when you use the word "shrinkage" - Seinfeld, anyone?)

Maybe a styling cream or gel that says something like "smoothing creme", or "glue" or "extreme stying cream", then you can tell it should do some serious holding and hopefully keep your curls heavier.

how long is your hair? I'm finding that i'm having this problem because my hair doesn't have enough weight in it yet to drag it down a little. *sigh* I look forward to that day.

The only thing I found to reduce mine was curl activator lotion.  I have Right On curl activator and it helps but the only thing is it makes the hair kinda greasy feeling if you use too much.  It does keep curl very moist and weighted down though.
