Ok.. so I dyed my hair this saturday at a salon. I have naturally dirty blonde / light brown hair. I asked for one shade lighter.. what did she do? Holy freaking ____ my hair was bright yellow blonde. (and when she colored it.. my scalp burned) I asked for something a little darker.. she put toner on it.. stepped outside, now its like this strawberry blonde / orangish / wig looking hair color. Very flat. So.. out of desperation I went to another salon. This girl put some blonde highlights in it to add dimension.. and put another toner on it to decrease the strawberry look that is too orange. Well I think it looks orange. So now what do I do? I really don't like this orange blonde color. I know it will fade.. because its semi - perm... but I am afraid its just going to look more orangy. Or should I try to fade it as much as I can.. like with baking soda.. or whatever you guys are talking about. The highlights wont fade, right? What should I do? Will it fade to more blonde because of the previous color? Will it turn more light orange? Also.. the next time I go to the salon.. what should I ask for? More highlights? Low lights? I know I made a mistake.. but I do want blonde hair for the summer.. I just dont want this fake strawberry weirdness. :( Help me. Thanks.

I feel bad no one answered you, so I'll take a stab at it. I
couldn't predict what will happen if you tried to fade it. It
seems kind of odd to me that your hair came out too yellow, then to fix
it she put a toner that made it orange? Seems a weird thing to
happen, but I'm no pro, so ... I probably wouldn't go back to her
though.
The toner she put on is what was semi perm I'm assuming? I think
I'd try to strip it off if you really hate the orange...but be aware
that you'll probably wind up with the yellow again if it does fade out,
so you'll have to go to the salon after that to get them to put
something violet over it to either darken it or just remove the yellow.
(As for your highlights though, I really don't know what will happen
there because it depends exactly what color they are...best to shop for
a good colorist and get their opinion before you do anything).
Things you can try to get it to fade faster are spending a day at the
beach in the sun (that ruined my red dye job once!), washing repeatedly
with Dawn dishwashing liquid (that works for some people but not for
others, so I suppose that depends on the dye). You will need to
condition really well after that, its very drying.
