Sorry for all the silly questions... and thank you for your help!

I was thinking about colour. I was told to get my hair dyed before the extensions are put in, so I did. A week after colouring, I am having my consultation, where the colours of the extensions will surely be chosen. A week after that they will be installed. But... what if my natural hair starts fading a ton, and by the time the extensions are installed (and then the three months I am wearing them), they don't blend well anymore because my natural hair is fading??

Sorry.. but I am such a worrier!!

I dont think your hair will fade enough that the extensions wouldnt match. I used to use color # 22 extensions. Every different brand varied in color, sometimes quite a lot. And my own hair was never a 'perfect' match but once the extensions were in you couldnt tell a difference. (I use #613 now which doesnt vary much) Slight variations will blend pretty well. And if you do feel like your color is fading too much you can always color just the top of your head or you can touch up your roots with most extensions.

Yeah, I think you'll be OK. If you need to use a toner of some sort or a color-enhancing shampoo to tweak the color slightly at some point, those are options, too. Just make sure the extensionist and the colorist are on the same page as far as the color you'll need. :)

Edited to say: Oh, I get it; it's already colored. Yeah, don't worry! :)

thanks jenny!

I have to say this... I just have to...

I really love you guys! You are some of the coolest, most helpful and supportive people I have ever come across on any board... and it is so appreciated... you don't even know.

You take a lot of time out to answer silly newbie questions.. (even though you have probably answered the same questions a million times before)... and... well... you are all so nice about it!

THANK YOU ALL AGAIN SO MUCH!

I promise to post pics when my extensions are done!!

Good. We love pics!

What color is your hair anyway? Someone here may be able to recommend some color-enhancing shampoos or conditioners, if you need them at some point. (If it ain't platinum blonde, then I know nothing about it.)

Another thing about pinchbraids (and this applies to all extensions, most moreso than braids, imo): Do not use conditioner on the roots; only use it for the length of the hair (with HH), and it won't be necessary at all if you're using synth. I have amazing luck with pinchbraids staying in my hair--I've lost maybe one in the past year or so--so I condition the hell out of my hair (including the roots), because they just refuse to budge. This isn't necessarily the case for everyone, though, so be conservative with the conditioner, at least at first.

:)
