i need help. i am used to having extensions.

i currently have pink streaks. i do not want pink streaks for my wedding but i see no problem with them the day after my wedding. i was contemplating wearing a chignon or a pony or a piece of any type. should i wear something over my pinchbraids, a wig? would i be able to wear a wig and do an half updo like amandas? (she looked AWESOME)

help help help

i ordered an elastica piece from sarah in platinum colors in 28mm , that is like a fall right? can i wear that? i don't even totally understand what that is and it hasn't come in yet. i looked over those pictures you posted jenny about 600 times and i still didnt get it.

my wedding is june 4. i want to wear a tiara bc i am a princess hahaha thats all i know. it can be a teeny comb in one, i don't care as long as i have one!

oh yea, my dilemna is, i can't just pull my hair back and pop on a chinogn thingie bc then my pinchbraids might be exposed? and well, i don't want to take out my extensions bc i certainly DO NOT WANT TO BE ON MY HONEYMOON EXTENSIONLESS!!!!!

edit: horrible typos

Mmm this is a tricky one.  I like your new picture by the way.  I would say you can wear a wig like I had my hair as long as it looks like skin in the parting.  You might be hot wearing a wig though and you don't want sweaty wedding photographs.  My tiara was a tiny comb one, I loved it, what is your dress going to be like.  I don't know about the plastikhar thing, I've not delved into the snyth (yet) LOL.  Can you wear your hair down and say put on a bang and then use the bang to do the back bit, mm but then again, there's your sides isn't there, I'm baffled, maybe you are going to have to take your pinch braids out of your sides just for the holiday if you can really see them, say replace them with shrinkies and then just have your pinch braids put back in the sides after.  I don't think you would need many out of the sides xx

Hmmm....this is a challenge.

First off, I don't think you're going to be able to hide all of the pink with any kind of piece or pony. I just don't think it's feasible. It's a bit of a challenge wearing pieces of any kind when you already have a full head of extensions, but if the colors are different, I doubt it will work. No matter what you do, the pink will probably peek out here and there.

Tiaras are a bit tricky. I think you could probably do something similar to what Amanda did--a swept-back style--but you'll need to get the pink parts replaced with blonde. If you want an updo or a pony, I'd actually remove all your extensions temporarily (as long as your own hair's long enough to pull back into a pony), and attach a piece, like (pictures shown below--they're all from InternationalWig.com, by the way).

The Elastica fall may work, but you'd still need to remove the pink extensions, at least. Generally, I wouldn't recommend that kind of fall--or any 3/4 type of piece--with a tiara, unless you have a stylist that day who can really incorporate it all seamlessly. 3/4 falls work great with headbands, but with a tiara, I'd think you'd really need that front hair to be arranged very strategically.

A few things about pieces: If you're removing all your extensions and have very fine thin hair, I would really suggest a jaw or claw clip because they stay put on even the thinnest hair and don't need a whole lot to hold on to. Drawstrings are great, but need a little more hair to hold on to (in the form of a bun usually), so they're good for hair that's a bit thicker and longer. A lot of the updo-type styles seem to be available in French comb form, which I have no experience with. But whatever you do, don't get a banana-clip fall--they're just not very secure.

Good luck! :)

Can't you just get your hair done the next day?  The above link is some pics of wedding hair designs.  Maybe you'll find one that can work with your extensions.  There's four pages of pics.

I think if you take som eof the pinkt hat is closest to the top out you should be fine.  Pull the remaining pink back and clip it to your head before putting on the elastica.

I'd also say you need to p ractice this a few million times between now and then.

When are you getting your extensions redone/tightened up next?

You could always get them done "normal" and have a few switched out for pink when you get back from your honeymoon.

As for making sure your pinch braids don't show.  try a hair style.  play with it.  Wear it around.  check for peak throughs.  repeat.

I'm much more like Kalika on this in that I do n't give a rats ass if some of my attachments show through here and there.  But from time to time its useful to hide them and I have a few hairstyles that could be used for formal events (like renewing my vows?  in Hawaii? soon?  ooh yes my husband shall be upset with you soon) where they wouldn't show.  half up similar to amanda's wedding hair.  A full ponytail with about 20 minutes of fiddling to get everything covered.  Then on either of those I can bun the loose hair.

PIg tails also are good for 'up' bu no showing but not so much wedding hair.

Do you just not want the pink showing in the pics or not at all at the wedding?

I think if you are definitely wearing a tiara chick you need some height on top of your head.  I went for a trial run at the hairdressers in Mexico and at the trial she didn't do my hair high enough and when she put the tiara in it didn't look right xxx

so this may sound dumb for asking....like a teen getting her senior pix with all her piercings still in because it's "her"....

but do you usually have some colored streaks in your hair???

if so, by chance is 'pink' or some flavor thereof a color in your wedding palette???

then why work so feverishly to hide them all when you will have a gazillion other concerns for your wedding ....TRUST ME!!!  :)

is there some way you can twist the front of your hair to the back that will minimize the pink streaks, but not completely obliterate them....make use of them.  if it's you...it's YOU

i'm just offering suggestions that don't make you work any harder to undo what you have done....considering you say that you'd not mind them the day after.

then again...if you're having a professional photographer....they can always photoshop the pix...and your hair will be blonde allover! and no one but you will even remember they 'retouched' the photos.

I like that about the nose ring vs strip club.

I can still make mine put up with the new piercings and new weird hair by taunting him with friends upcoming bachelors parties.  Don't know what i'll do once all of our friends are married.

So it's nose ring in pink hair out strip club in?

IS he against the hair the rest of hte year or just since this is a big formal event and hopefully one that won't be repeated?

yea, i don't mind not having pink hair for the wedding, i don't care about that, but a cute little sparkle on my nose is just too darned cute! ha!

he is against funky hair the rest of the time, but knows he can't win. he was fiercely against the nosering, too. it's quite ironic in my opinion. it's almost when you see your grndma and granpa and your grandma is a spitfire and you don't know how grandpa ended up with her... that'll be us hahahaha

he is anti dreads since day one, but i found some i fell in love with (kelly at devilish do'd current ones, and i just may have to do them next... if my workplace will allow)

Well, the Elastica is an accordian attachment, so it's a pretty flexible piece (that is, you can wear it in a few different ways). You will need some bobby pins to secure it well, though. I agree with Amanda about the height issue, though, if you want to wear a tiara. I'm not sure how that would work with the Elastica; you'd have to play around with it. I take it you've seen these pics:

If you hair matches the color of the elastica fall well, you could place the fall fairly high on your head, leave the front of your hair out, pull it back to cover the seams and pile what's left right on top for tiara-height.  Kind of how that last picture above is, but a little more vertical.

Let me know if what I'm saying makes absolutely no sense.  =)

The picture with the red hair makes me drool every time.

Edited to add:  Mer, have you asked Sara for ideas?  She would have the most experience in using the elastica fall.

Well, if it's wedding chic you're after, you need look no further than I Dream of Jeannie:
Just replace that fringed fez thingy with the tiara of your choice.
Here's a side view of the top mounted pony:

Then for something a little more conservative, there always

Hey Mer,

I posted this on another thread, but I thought it might be helpful in giving you an overview of some of the different types of pieces and their construction. Good luck!

First off, I've never had any luck with banana-clip falls, because they slip right out of my hair from the weight. I bought a few and just ended up throwing them out because they were unwearable. And I've never worn the French comb attachments, so I can't comment on those.

I love jaw-clip ponytails, however! They're my favorite because they're incredibly secure in thin, fine hair and as long as the hair is decent quality, they always look good. All of mine are actually constructed as wefts mounted onto a hard mesh base (not flexible fishnet). The hard mesh is almost like the mesh of a strainer or sieve; the wefts are then sewn in layers onto that. My favorites were these 26-inch reversible ones I used to get off eBay for $19.99. The hair wasn't the best-quality (so not the longest lasting), but the falls themselves were full and gorgeous; I don't think the woman sells them anymore, though. They looked a bit like this one (a Jon Renau clip-on from IWig):
Saucy

My second favorite is this one Mona Lisa "Jacqueline" one from IWig. It's not as full as the ones I got from the eBay girl, but it is fuller than it looks in the picture, and the hair is better quality:
Jaclyn

Now, as far as drawstrings go, the ones I've gotten are pretty much like a cross between 3/4 falls and clips. People with medium to thick hair seem to like these a lot. I have this one, the String Fall DCL from New Look (also from International Wig):
  String Fall DCL
Inside, the construction is like this, with layers of weft crisscrossing each other, mounted onto a flexible base, with a drawstring and top and bottom combs that secure the piece tightly around a bun. This is a decent piece, but the hair's not as high-quality, imo, as some of the other pieces I've bought from IWig:

Then, for maximum drama, there are the 3/4 pieces, which are essentially wigs that attach about 2 to 4 inches behind your front hairline with combs on the top and bottom. The wefts are crisscrossed and sewn onto a mesh/lace base. I've got all these:

The Donata:
  Donata

The Holly:
Holly

The Holly Layered:
Holly Layered

The inner construction is like this (I forget which is which exactly now):

And I also have this, which I just bought and haven't worn yet:
http://www.internationalwig.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=TB_Switch&Category_Code=SAddonPO"> Ponytails
Hmm...that's a tiny little picture. Here it is again:

These are mounted on string; I haven't had the time to figure out how to wear them yet.

By the way, I've bought lots of stuff from IWig over the years, and although I wouldn't purchase shrinkies or extension hair from them, they do have an amazing selection of pieces, and I've always gotten exactly what I ordered. I did have some difficulty recently with an order being delayed (apparently the shipment from the supplier hadn't come in), but they were apologetic and sent a few freebies with the order, so it all worked out. They are much better than most of the other eBay sellers; that's for sure. The quality of the Holly 3/4 falls, in particular, is amazing--they'll last forever. The Donata is not as high quality, as there's a bit of shedding from the wefts, but it's a good one, too (it's like 3 ft. long, so that might have something to do with it).

And here's the Elastica/Deluxe from PlastikHaar, which I'm sure you've seen before. It's an accordian attachment and the base does resemble fishnet or fencenet material:

The advantage of the Elastica is that it's a flexible piece that can be worn in a few different ways. Obviously, the hair is gorgeous, too, and you can customize it with whatever colors, texture, streaks, etc., that you want (which wouldn't be possible withthe mass-produced IWig pieces). You will probably need to bobby pin the Elastica, though, so it's not as secure as, say, the jaw clips or 3/4 falls from IWig.
:)

Here's another idea.  You can wear your real hair however you want underneath and then wear a lacefront wig.  That's one of those wigs with the realistic hairline like Beyonce and Tyrabanks wear.  They're expensive Live 300 dollars but you could keep it for a while.  Here's a pic of one.

I thought you were going with the hair from the wedding you were in?

I'm confused.  But your pics look greatin your history and your options seem plentiful for the wedding.
