Ok, so once you have an extension in, you're supposed to minimize
heat?? so what do most people do, try to let it air dry? What about
hot rollers? Isn't there a type of "steam" hot rollers that are
supposed to put moisture back into hair?? I'm new to this and have
lots of questions, trying to figure out how to care for and style my
hair with my extension, and want my extension hair to last, and look
good. Seeking advice on proper care. Any responses would be
greatly appreciated.

Hi there chick, if you are referring to human hair.  I have human hair extensions in and I don't minimise heat.  I blow dry my hair every time I wash it but I just use the cool shot first to dry the roots x

Stacey yeah....the less blowdrying the better! Blowdrying is definitely harsh on any hair and will definitely shorten the life of extension hair. Any heat styling is really not good to do. But if you are anything like me it cant be avoided! Some people say the Caruso steam setters work really good.

I really like the Caruso steam curlers on human hair.  I have used regular hot rollers too, but they seem to dry out the hair a lot faster.

With either--human or synth--the less you wash, blow-dry, and apply other forms of heat, the longer the hair will last. That said, sometimes it can't be avoided.

With human, I generally had to wash, blow-dry, and style my hair every day with a curling iron and sometimes a flatiron, and it did hold up, but looked pretty crappy at the 3-month mark. Some batches required less work than others, but generally the hair didn't look good unless I washed it and styled from scratch every morning.

With synth, I only wash the top of my head every other day, and I wash the length of the hair about once or twice a week. I let it air-dry till it's 90% dry (which doesn't take long, since synth is fast-drying) and then either blow or steam it out or let it dry in a bun or braid. I use hot rollers about once or twice a week. Synth does need to be blow-dried or steamed occasionally (once or twice a week, imo) to keep it looking good, though.
