This is an informative website you guys may be interested in taking a look at.

They contacted me about advertising on their website.  They gave me a free listing.

There seems to be a lot of general info here.

Does anyone know what the 'macrame' extension technique is?

The website is a good idea, but it's kind of misleading.  On the "hair extension methods" page it lists the different big name brands of fusion as if they are different methods alltogether.  It's also misleading about the glue.

"The bonds are strong and flexible and made of protein that is not harmful for your hair as some glues are"

AND

"This method is based on a gentle principle, 'modulating'. The attachment of the hair strand to your own hair is composed of polymer chains whose molecular structure is very similar to that of human hair"

GLUE GLUE GLUE!  Maybe different *brands* of glue, but still GLUE!  If I was a total newbie to extensions and hadn't been reading these boards for the past few years, I'd be totally swindled!  I know better, but not everyone does.  Why not just tell the truth?

I really didn't read that part and I agree, I hate fusion methods!  I don't do any fusion method and I don't do any weft bonding.

There is other good info there though.

Did you see the thing about the macrame extension?  I'm trying to figure out what that can be?

I personally DO like fusion, I have it in right now.  BUT, some people don't, so they shouldn't be misled about glue.

Anyways, I did see the part about macrame and I really curious too!  One of the pages listed an email address for a person who does macrame, so I just emailed him a minute ago.  I asked him to explain how it's done and send pictures of the attachment site.  I'll definitely share what I find out!

AHA!!!!!  I did a little websearch on macrame......."The decorative art of knotting"!    Translated in to extension terms:  pinchbraids!   Tutorial here: http://www.elainecraft.com/instructions/instruc.sq.html#squareknot - http://www.elainecraft.com/instructions/instruc.sq.html#squa reknot

The guy is either doing macrame with hair (which makes no sense because it's basically the same as pinchbraiding but with a few extra and unnecessary steps), or he's actually doing pinchbraids and calling it macrame.

I think Macrame extension is how they attach those micro illusions, I don't know how micro illusions are done but I know it's different than pinch braids which uses string, and different than invisibles which used the extension hair to tie it off.  I know with micro-illusions they somehow have to use dental floss to aid in attaching the hair.  This is the method that takes like three days to do and is supposed to be the least detectable type of extension method.  It's costs a lot but lasts a long time.

Afro, where can I find more info about these micro illusions and invisibles?

The macrame braid is used in the heat seals method.

You could do a search on the net or even here, we've talked about this technique before.  Unless you've seen the tape or had it done, no one really knows how for sure it's done.

here's the site of one place that does it.

Just don't order any hair from Jaz, that's the owner of Agape.  I hear she has the worst customer service.  They said it takes forever for her to get the hair to you and she's hard to get a hold of.

Thanks for the warning.  I just emailed her asking for more info on the invisible strand method from her site.
