Ok, after a while of deciding that I wanted to go red (my current colour being mahogony brown with blonde highlights) I finally got loreal expertise. I used this one because it's always been the one I used. Unfortunately the results are very upsetting, while the colour on the bottom half of my hair is great, it's a dark burgendy red, the roots are horrifying, they are bright orange. Now, I have no idea how this happened seeing as when I started I had no roots to begin with. I don't know what to do. Should I just suck up the results for tonight (I have a big concert Im going to ) and just go to a salon tommorow and get it fix, or is there some quick fix that wont cost me a fortune. Im freaking out! PLEASE HELP!!!

I'm not an expert by any means, but I just discovered this product by Clairol (I think)-- it's in a shiny foil package, relatively small-- Longs carries it-- but anyway it's a temporary mousse color-- you wash your hair and then put it on, then rinse it off after however many minutes. Although it only lasts about 8 washes, it might help cover up the craziness. There are funky colors-- a crazy plum one, a red, etc. It won't match your color or anything but it might disguise the botch job, if you're into a funky weird style. I mean, it could work, depending on whether you're going to a Yo Yo Ma concert or Avril Lavigne. :-) Anyway. It's about the only thing I can think of, but just so you feel better, I completely sympathize-- that sucks. Anyway, if you go a little funky it might look like you did it on purpose. Good luck!

Yeah, it is L'Oreal Color Pulse, sorry about that. It probably works different on different people-- I just use it to extend out my color so I don't have to dye-- on my roots. I have blonde roots and red hair (Garnier 100% in Intense Auburn) so I try to use the Color Pulse on just my roots so I have more time in between touch ups. It works for me, but maybe you're right, it might not wash out very well, because I just matched it to the rest of my hair color and then after about two weeks did my root touch up, so there wasn't really any time to tell if it stayed in or not. But it doesn't mess with my hair or seem damaging at all, that's why I suggested it. But then, I'm just talking from experience-- I'm certainly no expert :-)

I'm no expert either, and I think the reason why it didn't wash out very well was because my hair was already processed and therefore more pourous. But you're right, it is easy to use and not at all damaging.

There is a great product from Cairol called Complements and they make a demi permanent if you use the 4RC plus the Color Prompter (the peroxde), it will give you a rich color on the too bright roots, just apply it to the area that needs it. - Mags ASKMAGS.COM
