Ok, I just had to do it, now since the company is no longer going to produce more videos.

I've heard very mixed reviews about this method. I thought about it for a
while and decided against it. PM me and I'll give you the details on what I
heard...

Why hold back, Daydreamer2? You can post what you heard here, especially if it will help other people decide if it's a method they want to use. Gotta know the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Microillusions is similar to undetectable strands right?
essentially amazingly tiny pinch braids tied off with hair? Not
that the video wouldn't be hugely helpful in understanding how that
would work but...

You would want hair without the cuticle because when it's braided, I guess some of the hair is turned upside down in the braid. It it had the cuticles on it, you'd get cuticle gridlock-matting.
I am not planning to do this on myself, I'm planning to offer it to clients, after I practice enough, of course.
If marketed right, there would be customers willing to sit and pay for your time to do this. There's a customer for every product and price point.

Okay, Okay I'll spill it!
A friend had them installed and I have to admit they looked gorgeous!
Completely natural and you could hardly feel a thing. Well! about two
weeks after they were installed they started to come out. Sometimes with
her hair attached because the connections are so small. And taking them
down was a nightmare. Her hair had matted with the non-remy hair and
she had teeny-tiny little dreadlocks all over her head - that was after 4
months, even though she was told she could keep them in for 8 months!
It was such a shame because the method really looked like the 'promised
land' for a moment.
I also belong to two other hair boards and their results have always been
the same. I have yet to hear one solid good review.

Yeah. Sounded way too good to be true.
Thanks for spilling those beans. Up til now, the whole microillusions thing has been too hush-hush for me...if it's so great, it would be all over the place, not some big secret, imo.

Well, since I already paid for the video, I'll just have to chalk it up to another tax write off. It's not the first time I bought something that didn't turn out to be so useful.
However, you could do this technique with braids bigger than micros but smaller than pinch braids.
Also, you could use AD thermofiber hair, thus alleviating the cuticle problem.
Soon as I get the tape, I'll experiment with them and put some on one of my friends who won't hate me if it all goes to hell. I'll keep you posted.

Metalgirl, all knowledge is useful! It will be good for you to know about this method and maybe you can adapt it in some way to really work for you...who knows. The more methods you know about, the better for you!! It will probably yield some interesting techniques and tips.

Theroretically, yeah. But I have to say, I've had pinchbraids (which
are also overlapped at the root) with both cuticle and noncuticle hair
(including Bohyme, H&H Cuticle, Sepia, WigPro, Italian Minx, and
even GLs hair), and I've never had any problem with cuticle gridlock
matting. :)

So after hearing all this bad stuff, I got scared and cancelled my order for the micro illusions tape. Again, this is a reputable company.

There was just talk about this method on another board.
http://p069.ezboard.com/fblackbeautyblackhair86911frm7.showM essage?topicID=400.topic
One girl said there was only actually a few minutes of actual instruction on how to do the method. Someone also said that Bernadette is bald-headed so it's funny that she says she uses this method herself.
This method is probably not that widespread because of the TIME and MONEY and all the restrictions it takes to actually put it in.
While the pictures I saw of this method are absolutely beautiful, I decided against it because I want my real hair to grow and I just didn't think this was the healthiest method.
I still think you should learn it though. I've read good reviews too on this method also, some love it. And also some people don't really care what happens to their real hair as long as the weave looks good and hands down this is the most realistic method available. I mean if you tell them upfront what can happen if they don't take care of it then that's on them.
Plus you don't have to do an entire head in these, just like maybe the front or back so they can pull it up into a ponytail or if they want to wear a part.
I don't know how much the tape costs but as I heard before the instruction part was only a few minutes. I know they use dental floss to aid in attaching the micro put I don't know how.

The tape costs $250. That's too much for me to spend right now on something I may not use.

So.. how does Bernadette's differ from the micro I learned from Marcella? Is the dental floss an alternative for tying off a very micro pinchbraid? As I've been playing around with the Micro technique I learned...I think there is a maximum potential on how small you can make the braid. Either their will be too much stress/tension or the weare could be the culprit. Also, they are advertising 12 months of wear. NO NO NO!!!!
Oh yeah...Apuffs I agree. This method would be great for crown, parts, nape, hairlines...those "unsightly" areas that always show the bonds!

Since I did not get the video, I am not quite sure on how Bernadette's method differs from Marcella's method. But this is what I could gather from talking to Bernadette:
The dental floss is used to help keep tension on the braid, but then it is removed, and I'm not sure how the braid is tied off. Shoot, I'd rather take a class from Marcella and learn this in person than just trying to figure it out from a videotape.
However, I still think I'll be making a visit to Hair Police!

No don't!...Not to dis Marcella...but it was a VERY beginner course! All the info is here now. I did my best to post pics on the undetectable and her secure loc Malaysian. I was a bit disappointed cause I already knew the links and fusion, Although my thoughts on my fusion and hers were a world apart...but that's another story!
If you have any Q's MG...let me know. I'll try my best to answer them or I can always give her a call.

Hi, this is my first post and i have been wearing all different kinds
of extension techniques for over 10 years now but i am totally
interested in learning the actual microillusions method or the Marcella
method. Especially for my crown area and around the back.
If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.
