I am trying to find out the difference between extendtubes and shrinkies. Anyone haveing some opinions they want to share would be great! I know shrinkies still have some glue on them...are they hard to get out? I had fushion before and from the experience I do not want to go there again. I know its not the method but who is properly installing them but I still would prefer to stay away from glue.

I think personally that extentubes cause little or no damage if you are a diy-er but if you aren't used to shrinkies some people find them hard to get out and the residue hard to get out. When people rush and don't take their time removing products from the hair that's when the damage is caused xx

Extentubes are metal rings that clamp down on the hair strand with
pliers. Shrinkies are adhesive-lined heat shrink tubing that need to
be applied and removed with a double-sided fusion wand (for best
results).
If you don't like anything "sticking" to your hair after removal, you
won't want shrinkies. There is residue to remove after every shrinkie
is taken out. It is not nearly as much as fusion (not even close to the
same amount) and it's more like a light coating than a glob to
contend with. Still, if you are against any clean up, stick with
extentubes.
I personally have given up on extentubes. I have had no luck
opening them on myself and frequently have to work the ring back
and forth in the pliers and that causes the hair to get chewed up
underneath.

I'm with Amm on that one...I just removed a head of micro-ring/extendtube/shrinkies. Which brought the most hair out? Hands down the microlinks. I don't care how careful you are...some of those collapse into themselves and you end up with a silver ring of metal that is completely bonded to your hair...the hair along with it is the only way out...and it's always in the most obvious place on your head for some reason. Oh, and the small microlinks...removal nightmare. The extendtubes removed easier the the micros, and the shrinkies were the easiest of all. I just took some baby oil and removed the residue. Very little hair loss.

Have either of you girls ever tried the ring opener tool that
hisandher.com sells? It's only $12, and I think it works really well. I
haven't had a problem with folding rings since I got it.

use them than another install method, I will definitely try that opener.
I like extentubes. I just can't open the darn things on my own head.
Delin, YES! The small rings are the ones I can never open. And, I
only try to open them enough to release the tension so I can get the
extension tip out and I STILL can't get it. Mediums are sometimes an
issue and Large are never a problem but they're just so bulky for
fine hair.
