Hi,

 

I have a 1920's party to attend and need to know how to style my hair...  its shoulder length and i wanted to create the slick to my head waves which I think are called Asymmetrical Waves

how do i do this?

It was pretty much just bobbed to the ears and stick straight, stuck to the head, then a 20s hat was worn over it (see the hats, same page).

Maybe you should try to pin your hair up to look shorter, the way a lot of celebs do from time to time?  Or maybe buy a cheap, costume wig in a Louise Brooks style, as those are easily available.

My grandmother who came of age in the *flapper era* did the same with her long hair.  She pinned it up at the nape and created the waves (either finger waves or with the old-fashioned clip curlers that did the job).  She begged and begged her father to let her cut her hair, but time after time he refused.  Finally, he relented, and she got herself a bob and when the deed was done, he looked at her and said, "It doesn't look any different."  She kept the waves.  There just wasn't the bundle of hair at the nape of her neck.
