Do they make permanent funky dyes?  I've only ever seen temporary or semi, that I can recall.

The best hot pink I have ever found was Special Effects Atomic Pink.  Special Effects is veggie dye, but Atomic Pink can be pretty darn permanent.  You just have to bleach the hair first.

Blue is a tricky color, and I do not know of a permanent or even a truly long-lasting blue.  Special Effects Blue Velvet is a highly-recommended shade of blue, but it is not permanent.

These are not salon brands...in fact, I've often had hairdressers ask me what I use because my local ones have absolutely no experience with funky colors.  You can get SFX at some Hot Topic stores or from http://www.garmentdistrict.com/store/rock/special/index_special.htm - www.garment-district.com .

If your hair is naturally black, definitely you'll have to bleach first to get the dyes to show up.  If you put them on virgin black, you might get a faint tint that shows up in bright light, but not much else.

I used FUDGING I got at a hairsalon, the only one in town that will carry it.
It is only SEMI-Permanant but the blue is AMAZING! ROCK STAR BLUE, It fades though, but you can keep applying it and it's easy to use.

AND YOU MUST BLEACH.
I used frost and glow as a bleach. I bleached out streaks and applied the blue. Worked out wonderfully.

Most do no Sell the bright wild colors for some reason....
