im using sun in but as it continuosly lightens does this mean when i redo my roots if i get any sun in on already lightened hair it will be lighter than the roots

 

(ps i have dark blond hair berfore you tell me about dark brown hair going orange)

Well, I'll tell the usual that sun in is really horrible for hair health and it's really better for your hair to go lighter with dye. 

That said, I'd put it only on the roots if you're going to use it because  the more you use it on the already done hair, the worse condition that hair will be in (and yes it will keep getting lighter).

I use a device called "Roots Only" that deposits color on the roots where your hair color is natural.  It has helped to eliminate any over-processing, even though the suggestion is made a lot on the boxes of colorant to "refresh the ends, deposit the color for 5-10 minutes for touch-ups".  I don't do that anymore after my hair started breaking off.
