http://extensions-plus.com/ - Extensions Plus

OK, so I'm $400 lighter than when I went in there but I coulda stayed all day and played in their hair. It's clean and fresh and out there for you to touch and hold and feel and nobody rushes you to get done. I was in there for well over an hour this morning and they pulled out tons of hair for me to go through so I could get exactly what I wanted.

I got to feel REAL Italian hair. I got to feel REAL Russian hair. I got to feel REAL European hair. It is unbelievable. It's like satin ribbons through my fingertips.

I wound up getting 2 stunning wefts of Zig Zag and one of the microbond wefts of SoftWear. It looks like French Refined but it's so much more softer and more lazy S than anything I've seen. The Softwear weft was a little light at 1.8 oz from its advertised 2 oz. The Zig Zag natural curly wefts are a bit heavier than their advertised 3.0 weight so I definitely got my money's worth overall. We spent the time color matching my own hair and highlights and texture and this is going to be spot on when it's in. I'll make this Plastikhaar last as long as possible but the next install will definitely be the Extensions Plus hair.

The Zig Zag wefts you see are a honey blonde and a light brown with strawberry tones to it. The lighter one is 28" and the darker shade is about 26". I'll be trimming them down to about 25" for wear which will eliminate the stragglers on the ends. The blonde SoftWear is color #16 and that will be the highlights. Lifespan on this hair is estimated to be one year or more with good care. They gave me some ARS Moisture Recovery cream that smells fabulous. It must be a salon only type of conditioner?

The EZ PLugs are cool for those who would rather not pretip for whatever reason. It's the same high quality hair that's on the weft and in bulk. It's not like a lot of places where they substitute cheap hair for tipping.

Oh, what else is cool about this place is that they have a big plate glass window where you can see the employees making the wefts and handmade wigs. It's awesome. I will definitely be ordering their color ring and more hair from them.

The three colors I got:

SoftWear:

Awesome wefts:

Yes, Softwear hair can last a year and the EP european hair can last 2 or more years, and I know this for sure because I have a lot of people wearing this hair.

I would love to go visit them!  Their store is in Receda, CA, isn't it?

OOOOOOOH AMM!!  WOW, you went on the same day I ordered from them!  I am *so glad* and *so relieved* to hear about the hair (read: so SICK of getting crappy human hair!!)  I ordered 4 oz. of silky straight for an install I'm doing for a friend this weekend!!

I got #4 and #33. What are the numbers of the colors you got?? THEY ARE GORGEOUS!!  Also I can't believe the length you got!!! On their website they only have lengths up to 22" for the Softwear. How do you find out if they have the longer lengths?

Anyway. This is GREAT news and thanks for the recon work!!

Hi amm! The hair that you ordered is really beautiful. I have been trying to decide on which hair to buy from Extensions-plus for a month now, because I have 2 questions: how many ounces will a person need for a fully sewn-in weave? 6 oz or more? Also, with the zig zag hair, did you buy the "naturally curly" Indian/Italian blend? If yes, does it get decent curls when you wet a sample of it? I have talked to Sonia there a few times and she is very helpful, but I wanted a customer's opinion instead of just the salesperson's opinion. I am going to order some soon so that I can wear curly hair for the summer. Good luck with your installation!!!

Kristin - They're at 17738 Sherman Way in Reseda. They're tucked into a little alcove on the south side of Sherman Way so watch the block numbers carefully if you drive up. I highly recommend you go there because you can play with all the hair on the hangars and see hair that's not even advertised (like I got.) I found I am numbers 8/16 & 9 which is what I never would have chosen online. The #22 is ashy and that's the color I would have ordered sight unseen. You really have to see the colors or have the ring. And wait until you see the wigs they've made. OHMYGAWD. I've never seen anything so real looking in my life and the soft hair and waves to some of them is remarkable.

For anyone ordering, go a FULL 2" longer than what you want if you're ordering any hair with wave (or what they call "perm"). My 20" Softwear is a very modest 18" and it has to be pulled very very tight to make 20".

Here's something totally awesome. If you send them a snip of your own hair (or even several snips of a few colors), they will match it and put it on a weft. They do it all right there, too. Expensive? Perhaps initially, but not in the long run.

Here's a photo of the length of two I got. I guess they're both about 27-28". They're a solid 24-25" for sure. These are the http://extensions-plus.com/custom.html - Italian Natural Curly Hand Wefted (not to be confused with Softwear)... One was $137 (3.2 oz) & the other was $150 (longer length & 3.5 oz). Are they perfect? No. They know it and I know it but it's handmade, natural hair without the bullsh*t so keep expectations real. :)

Here's the http://extensions-plus.com/hsw.html - Softwear . Check out that weft.

There's no short hairs over the top. It's all one length coming out of there. It's weird feeling. It's bendable and kind of firm. It's shiny and almost like a glue but you can see something resembling stiching.

It's lucsious in the sun.

Serious, get 2" longer than what you wear. 22" is as long as they carry, I believe. I didn't see anything longer there in the Softwear. The lifespan on this is reported to be a little shorter at one year. Something kind of odd -- I have color #16 which is not an option on their web site. They had plenty of this beautiful blonde which has more goldish tones than their pale #613.

NJHAIRLUV - Yes, I have the Italian Curly. It's a natural wave and not permed. The pattern I have is what they call "Zig Zag." If you like that nice natural curl, that's what you call it when you order. The hair goes into a very lazy S when wet and dries exactly as pictured. When we're into extra long lengths like I wear, the weight of the hair makes the wave even lazier. Mousse or product can intensify the wave and I can get an even curlier look from it. 6 oz may not be enough for a full weave and definitely not enough if the hair is extra long. I would recommend 8-10 oz to play it safe. Give 'em a call. They're very helpful and know what they're talking about in there.

Fina - I have two different types of hair. The Zig Zag Italian wefts are what they call "Honey Blonde" but each have different colors to it. I can see how this will be very difficult to order online because the colors were considered the same. I will always drive down to LA when it comes time to get the wefts. If you'd like me to try to match hair for you sometime, I can do that when I go down there. Or definitely take a plane ride over and spend a few hours in their shop. They will match your hair colors to a T. That Zig Zag Italian does not have advertised lengths. I guess you have to call them to see what they have. They brought out this huge supply for me and I got to pick what I wanted. It almost felt like I was getting into some secret supply stash they had.

Now, the Softwear is the stuff in the packages that come in 2 oz weights (a light 2 oz, I'm afraid). I don't recall #4 or #33 but I bet I saw them because they had a lot of nice darker colors. The one I have is #16 which isn't even advertised online. Another reason why I'm glad I went in there. :)

Fina you got MY #4 !! Just kidding, but I called yesterday and ordered hair for a client and was going to get some for myself since my PH was not the right color but they are out of #4 and eaven#3 they say it will be in next month, againAMM thats the soft wear perm right? And the natural curl in the sample they sent was sooo curly I was afraid to get it but what you have is quite nice. Hmmmmm

That hair is truly incredible looking. It looks so soft and shiny... it's beautiful.

Isn't it unusual to be able to find human hair that long?

Congratulations amm!

Fina - You want, say, half of it? It'll be my cost split down the middle + shipping. Just so you know, this isn't a natural wave. This is the Softwear and it's processed and the curl is there via perm. When it's wet, it has that same spiral bend to it. Still, it's loverly. Let me know. Can you post photos of the Softwear you got, Fina? Would love to see it.

Elvira - Not sure how I want it installed. I'd love to have someone pinchbraid it in but if I do it myself, it'll definitely be with the shrinkies. Probably black again. And, yes, I'm psyched. WOOT!

marie - Yeah, the light blonde is the Softwear. The two strawberry blondes (what they call "honey blondes") are the Natural Italian Curly. The Softwear is permed. When it's wet, it spirals into that telltale perm look. I wouldn't call it curly, really, but it's very wavy when wet.

hippyhair - Finding hair this length that's like this isn't commonplace but it's definitely out there if you're willing to look for it and then pay the price. :)

Amm, you said the staff at Extensions-Plus were helpful? I called yesterday to place an order and told the girl that I had a few questions and she said no problem. She kept putting me on hold, then said she would call me back because she was too busy, then after 4hours I called back to place my order and the girl told me I was taking to long and hung up on me. When I had asked her a question, she sometimes didn't have an answer so instead of saying I don't know, she wouldn't say anything, so I was like Hello,Hello??? But I still plan on ordering from there, I'll try again Monday. She wasn't too cool but when I had called there last week, the girl that answered the phone was very receptive and helpful. I'd much rather order online but oh well...

AMM: Did you see any falls, clip-on pieces, or 3/4 wigs there? I'm not really interested in HH for daily extensions wear, but it may be a great investment for a good piece that would last me a long time. I understand that they can custom-make or re-create a piece if you send them one. Has anyone had this done by EP?

:)

Posted By: amm
Date Posted: May 14 2005 at 6:43pm
elvira - Yep, very friendly and helpful. But then, I was face to face with them. After the initial requests of getting all the hair out in front of me, I was left to my own devices with my head buried in bundles of wefts and didn't really need a lot of questions answered. I will say that they were extremely busy. There were employees tied up on the phones (probably with that demanding Fina. Hah!) and I was one of four walk-ins in a half hour. Two of those had dedicated employees with them. One was planning a customized piece and the other was helping a new wearer of a customized piece in styling. They really are full service even after you buy their hair (from what I saw.)

The Softwear should be a breeze in ordering on the phone if you know the length, color and texture you want. A color ring is a must. Have a back up color in case they're out. Now, the wefts of the natural hair are another thing. After seeing all that hair, I could not imagine trying to match my shades over the phone. Even when I told her I wanted to match the hair on my head she brought out some wefts I would never even consider so it's best to send them a sample snip and have them match it.

Jenny - All I saw out in front were wigs. AMAZING wigs. BREATHTAKING wigs. Wigs with totally natural parts and realistic lift at the crown and bang area. These were made with the Softwear hair and the Italian natural (like I have on the weft) and they were drop dead gorgeous. One of the employees was wearing one and the blending was superb. I wouldn't have even known it was a wig except for the fact her photo is on the EP site and I recognized her right away. I have no idea if they did clip-ons but that would be awesome if they did.

Here is the 4 and 33:

Yes, indeedy, I did f**k up and order bulk (gee, I guess I thought that extra $.25 for the weft was too much??). Anyway I've been tipping it which is why the bundle looks a little wonky. . .

Amm I'm thinking that maybe the softwear you have might be too curly for me. The one I'm working with above is the "silky straight", and, as you can see, it is not perfectly straight. It has great body and is gorgeous!

Wow, that's pretty. I TOLE you! I think the natural wave suits perfectly the way I've seen you style your hair. The permed Softwear would definitely be too curly. Mwahahahaha... all mine!

I did not see any EP made into nail hair. The only pretipped was stick.

Amm, thanks so much for the review and great pictures.  About how long did they say the softwear will last?  From reading about it on their site I am guessing is does not have the cuticle?  Does the hair feel really soft?  It sure looks amazing and I might also want to try   Still waiting for this Plastikhaar though - UGH!

You're so welcome. Pictures make it so much more fun, too.

Softwear is processed and it's reported to last a year under good
conditions. I'm not sure if it has a cuticle or not. Have we ever
established if that's a good or bad thing? I've read so many
conflicting pros and cons to cuticles.

How long have you been waiting for PH? I waited about 35 days for
my first order and the 2nd one was ordered priority and took 3
weeks.

Well, I ordered my Plastikhaar on March 31.  She said she had to wait on the Dome spray to come in.  It was put in the mail about 5 days ago and I ordered Economy to ship.  I am guessing it will reach NJ in about 2 weeks.  I really, really, really, love the blond hair you purchased because it has fantastic shine to it.  I am soooo jealous that I don't live where you do because I want to visit a store like that- no fair!!!!  Thanks again though to show such great pictures and review for EP store; for those of us who can only dream of a hair heaven - <sigh>.

I have had great lengths extensions for over 2 1/2 years and recently changed to someone else that uses another hair company she said was the same hair as g.l. But I am having extreme rats nest, parched, poofy, tangled hair that looks like doll hair for the same cost. She finally told me it was Extend Plus hair and that I need to pay for the hair since she admitted it was overprocessed. I did color it with a deposit color only the day of the extension application since she told me to do so and that it was ok to do that day. It is starting to pull out my own hair and acting like a poofy sponge in the shower. This hair has only been trouble getting worse and its been a month. I've tried all the conditioners, detanglers, before/after shampoo. I can only put it in a braid. She gave me no take home info since I did the great lengths but obviously this is not the same since I had no problems at all w/that hair even swimming, sleeping.
Can someone tell me if this is the extensions-plus company and if they have had these problems. please!!!
She told me to color it and if I'm not happy and scared to get in the shower I think I need a refund for her misrepresenting the hair and for her not willing to see me and/or not willing to replace at her cost the damaged hair (she admitted it was). I'm soo desprite for help after spending $1,800.

Oh thats horrible. She could get into alot of trouble.I've heard GL has strict policy on using hair other than what they are supposed too.If she doesnt give you your money back you should report her.I cant believe she charged $1,800.Thats ridiculous.Sounds like she used regular Beauty supply store hair.Which I have had better results with than what your talking about. She probably only spent  $100 on  hair. It doesnt make any sense.GL was the first extensions I checked into or even knew of in my area. The girl who offered them actually seemed very honest.Except sadly misinformed about length of wear. She had let clients wear there hair foreight months and who knows how long.Anywhooo....She only wanted to charge me $800 for everything.Thats $400 for haIR,AND $400 for application.I'm just curious is this closer to the actual amount the hair costs.I know you can buy good cuticle hair(hisandhers) for $500.How much extra are they charging people.

There are alot of members who've had some awful extension stories of there own on here.I was one of the lucky ones.I had the money but got drawn in by an adorable white chihuahua. And then I was broke again. And If it makes you feel any better things only can look up from this experience. And you were lucky to find this site. There are alot of different techniques to choose from that not only are much easier on your hair but also much easier on your wallet.Check out the member pictures.None of those women have GL.And they all have wonderful hair,.

is this hair extend plus as she called it the extensions plus hair?

Who can I report her to? She's not w/great lengths; she just said it was the same quality hair. Which obviously is not the same at all. The great lengths hair was great, I had no problems w/it. It was a little more difficult to take out since the tips are hard and stay so well but otherwise I had no problems and no concerns. Just thick beautiful healthy hair and I used to be blond. I'm very scared to use any other brand after this experience.

are member pictures under their names??

What hair should I ask for?? I will color my hair w/a no deposit demi-semi perm. color and some warn not to do this and braid your hair, conditioner before/after; tangling problems. I just don't want to deal w/any of this and it to be pretty and not pull on my hair. I expect it to only last about 3-4 months but w/out these issues.

Hairclient,

Your stylist is certainly not being too helpful to you, is she (or he)?

I don't know if 'extend plus' is the same as Extensions Plus, but I can tell you that I have put Extensions Plus hair on over 100 clients and only 1 had tangle/ matting issues.

I use the Mark Barrington Shrink Link method, and actually he buys the Extension Plus hair, makes them into perma plugs and then resells it to me to use with his shrink link system.  So in the case of the client who got the bad batch of hair, I reported it right away to Mark, and he replaced it (6 ounces of 20" blond- not cheap) right away, no questions asked.  I then removed the crappy extension hair from the client and reapplied the new hair, at no additional cost to my client.

Your stylist should be more willing to help you and especially for $1800!  I guess I just live in the wrong place or something, because after the client purchases the hair (at cost- no mark up) I am only charging $300-$500 for the application!  Damn, how do so many stylists get away with over charging their clients, doing a sh*tty job, not guaranteeing their work, and still remain in business?!

I  color extensions with demi color all the time, and it shouldn't be a problem.  I wouldn't try to lift the color though, too tricky and risky.

Good luck, and keep bugging your extensionist, she needs to stand behind her work!

I seriously doubt this is Extensions-Plus hair, as it's one of the few brands that has received excellent reviews here. It sounds like some crappy BSS hair, and you have my sympathies because it's clear your stylist is simply outright lying about the quality and price.

I doubt you can complain to anyone but the actual stylist about this, since she didn't say it was GLs hair.

You can see some of the member pics here:

I just had my hand made weft from EP sewn in last Friday. I sent them a
swatch of my hair and they matched it. I ordered it l8 inches, 50% thicker
than standard, european hair with a slight wave (one step up from stick
straight). It cost $323. It is beautiful. It has not tangled once, nor shed.
I am in heaven. I only have one thick weft sewn in. It is a tad longer than
my own hair. It dries beautifully, and I try to let it dry by itself, but
haven't had it in very long yet, and am still experimenting with styling. I
have been using a diffuser after it dries mostly by itself, and it waves up
very naturally. Tried some mouse on it the other day, it worked well but
got kindof crunchy. I have some bumble and bumble styling/finishing
spray that is very light and brushable I've been using. It's so awesome,
it's not like other hair I've had. IT DOESN'T TANGLE you don't have to
brush it all day to avoid matting. It is low maintenance. I'm trying to just
leave it alone and not mess with it too much to make it last, plus it's just
so pretty on its own. I have to style my own hair much more than my
extension hair. the hand wefts DO NOT SHED. No hair on the floor. The
l8 inches was way generous in length. I didn't need to order that long,
and ended up cutting quite a bit. The ends on what I ordered looked
pretty good, really. I talked to a lady named Cheyne. She was kindof
hard to get on the phone, but reallly really knew her stuff. That's the
scoop. i'll defnately use them again. I might would consider next time
one step curlier/wavier, also, highlights or a mixture of some lighter
within the weft would have been nice. I just highlight slightly my own
hair all around it and it's fine. Love it, love it, love it.

thank you all for your help and info. if you have any more please let me know since I am desputing this w/the credit card company as misleading bad services. I need everything I can get. I know I'm right and not crazy not that makes this just more difficult to handle. I even purchased some hair on internet and colored it even before I put it in to see if I could do my own hair and had no trouble w/it; it was beautiful; just not as thick or staying in since I'm not a professional. And the cost on it was $100 for 6 bundles of very long hair.
Can anyone tell me the best hair to get put in? I like it wavy and mid back w/a style/cut.

One hint. What's the hair we're talking about in this thread?

cuti weave 22 is the hair I purchased online. And I don't know if I want to put it in myself. I would like hair that will stay in and I don't have to worry about. I would really like to find someone honest and with good hair quality at a reasonable cost. I don't know how to go about this in Dallas.

I don't know thread???? types??

Did you know that Extensions-Plus offers WHOLESALE pricing to licensed hairdressers? AND that they don't want to sell you a color ring without such license?

I called today to order the color ring and she asked if I would fax over my license. I hemmed, hawed, and made up all kinds of stories and she's sending it anyway. However be prepared. They will ask you for your license (or maybe I just got lucky?) if you want a ring. However they will sell hair to anyone.

She said, "Well be sure to fax over your license so you can get the hair at the wholesale prices."

Hmmmm. . . any of you licensed gals out there interested in helping out here??

Just to let you all know...don't get too excited. The price break is not that substancial.(I know it's better than nothing...but I guess I was hoping for more)This is for natural micro weft:

Length All Colors Excluding blondes and frosted Colors: 22,24,613,618, frosted (2 tone)
14"
$43
$51.50
18"
$76.00
$90.00
22"
$110.50
$130.00

14"-$39,18"-$69,22"-$100.50

Hope that gives you a little insight. I haven't yet ordered form them to know if you get a better deal on a larger order. I do plan on using their hair very soon.

I findit very intersting they will sell the general public the hair ut not the ring? It just doesn't make sense.

Hi guys, I was wondering what websight Amm got the hair from. I like how thin the weft was! Thanks!

Thanks Gina - after I posted that info I got the "wholesale" prices and I was like, oh woo-hoo. By the time you get it shipped from one place to another there goes your "discount". Oh well. But yes, isn't that strange about the ring??
