..I dont mean brand. I mean as in monofibre, kanekanon, etc? Im thinking of trying it but need alittle advice first as i dont have alot of experience with synthetic hair. What type is dome and plastikhaar? Also, Boogiemama if your there, what synthetic hair do you use? |

Well, I don't have experience with ALL sythetic hair, but I can tell you what I DO know. Toyokalon is terrible. It's so shiny it doesn't look real....at all..plus it's so tangly that I couldn't even get a brush through it for one stroke. It's a monofiber, so it melts with heat. Kanekalon - well, I just don't know about this one. Plastikhaar is a monofiber, but it's high quality, not at all like Toyokalon. I believe they are overseas (to me, because I'm in the U.S.) and available in long lengths. American Dream has a heat resistant (thermofiber). They are located somewhere overseas and I am actually thinking about ordering from them, but the price conversion added to overseas shipping adds up to a whole lot of money for synthetic hair. But they do have up to 60". WaWa - I have a sample of this and it's absolutely beautiful! Great texture! It's a thermofiber, but the drawback (for me anyways) is that it's only available up to 22". Available in U.S. I'm sure everyone else will chime in with more info. I was talking to BoogieMama earlier and she does heat seals, which means the hair melts with heat. By the way.....if ANYONE knows where to get 36" or longer thermofiber in the U.S........PuhLease for the love of God, tell me! |

Toyokalon is -not- monofiber. Toyokalon is toyokalon; it's its own
fiber. I don't like it at all. It's not heat-responsive in the least,
so you can't blow-dry it straight when it gets frazzly. And yeah, it's
shiny and looks like Barbie hair. Monofiber is simply a higher class of kanekalon. There's also cheaper textures of kanekalon- jumbo braid, silky braid, etc- you don't want none of those (not for extensions, anyway). Brands of hair that are monofiber are Dome, Prostyles, PH, and Trimco. EDIT: Oh, I forgot: there's thermofiber too. Hmmm, I have seen people describing any synthetic that is not heat resistant as monofiber. Perhaps I was misunderstanding them. |

AFAIK, there are really only two types of synth that are suitable for loose: monofiber and thermofiber. I've tried two bands of monofiber now--Dome and PlastikHaar--and the quality seems the same to me. They're so similar, in fact, that I have both in my hair and can't tell which is which anymore. And based on everything I've heard, Prostyles and Trimco are the same quality level. Choosing between them is basically a matter of price, length, texture availability, and so forth. PlastikHaar has, by far, the most options to choose from for the best price. Now, I think thermofiber varies a lot more. To me, WaWa and American Dream (at least the straight textures) look the nicest (or most realistic). Ebonyline Adore looks quite real from a distance (it's not very shiny at all), although it does look like a fiber up close (it's a bit more textured somehow). The Hot Stuff Fusion didn't look as good as those to me, but I've never actually worn any of them. In terms of wear, I think WaWa straight (not the bodywave) and Ebonyline Adore have both gotten good reviews. I don't know if anyone's tested the AD long term yet. There's also Freetress Futura, which Sherrie might be able to tell you more about. :) |

| Well...Ive only seen the #613 in Freetress Futura and its very pretty hair, smooth and silky as heck, but it is very shiny. It was wayyyyy to platinum even for me, so I sent it off to Amm. Im not sure if she done any testing with it or not. I wore some of the Ebonyline thermal fiber and was very impressed with it. I had about 30 strands mixed in with my HH extensions and it held up great for over 2 months.(the very ends were a bit frazzled but the rest looked great) Im not sure if 30 strands was enough to do a real review on though. |

Shel: as far as I know there's only one "grade" of monofiber. I -could- be wrong, though. Shel .. I got some Janet hot stuff fusion (thermo) and some Wawa if
you want to play around with it. I think Wawa is the better of the two ... it curls better/easier. Also there are two types of Janet hot stuff thermo's ... one is kind of like wawa ... the other is horrid ... way too shiny and really plastic looking with crinkles
