is it shampoos that contain silicones or conditioners? I think its mostly conditioners. Isnt silicones something you should be avoiding in hair products? just wondering........

Silicones work good for some people. It works better on coarser, tangle-prone hair. You just have to make sure to clarify.

Silicones end in the word cone, silicones causes build up(residues) and it is hard to wash out of your hair,it will not wash out with just water.Silicones prevent hot blowdryers and hot curlings from damaging hair by sealing and smooth hair's cuticles.Try to avoid overusing silicones.I don't know of anthing that's as good as silicone but with less buildup.

thanks to all! man i thought silicones were the best for our hair. I know overuse of anything can bring damage .What would do as good as silicone but with less build-up?

Silcones that are in Motions worked soooo good for my hair, but the minute I stopped using this product my hair suffered shedding and severe breakage.  I'm a relaxed 3c/4a.

For protein, try Queen Helene's Cholesterol or any kind of Cholesterol.

I would suggest a moisturizer like Kenra's Mouisturizing shampoo.  You'll like it.

I agree with Layla & Sugaplum b/c my hair is thick & coarse & it love cones, especially in motions products. I use Motions mild relaxer, lavish conditioning shampoo, moisture plus conditioner, foam wrap, leave-in conditioner & cpr shampoo & conditioner. When I stopped using motions, the texture of my hair and the condition of my hair was not the same.

I too like Motions conditioner (I can't think of the name right now though).

I also like VO5's Berries and Cream collection ie. Strawberries and Cream, Blueberries and Creme, Peaches and Cream etc.  These all have cones in them and are allot cheaper then Motions.

I hope that this has helped you.
