Pantene will definitely patch everything up and make your hair look nice. However it could also damage your hair even further. Find a deep conditioner with no ingredients that end in -cone, -conol, or -siloxane.

Is your hair really dry? Unclarified hair (with product buildup) can also feel dry even though it isn't. Have you tried a clarifying rinse?

If it's wavy, maybe your hormone changes are causing it. This is the case with many teens.

Yea I agree with AnaisSatin -- don't ever use Pantene!!  I used it for years until a stylist took a pair of sissors and SRAPED WAX OFF OF MY HAIR explaining that it was so dry because of the pathenol in Pantene.  Pathenol is a kind of wax and Pantene uses wax to make your hair look shiny, yet seals out all of the nutrients your hair needs.  I got a purifying/stipping/vitamin treatment done and the stylist said I could have make a small candle out of all of the wax they stripped off my hair.  But even after the treatment, I still had to get 12 inches chopped off because it was too messed up.  So don't make the same mistake I made!!  Stay away from Pantene and all products containing pathenol!!

Panthenol is actually relatively safe. Don't be intimidated by it. Panthenol is a humectant that is added to cosmetic products to attract moisture to the hair shaft. The only side effect is maybe (maybe) it draws the moisture out instead, but that's the least of people's Pantene problems.

The BIG BIG reason Pantene is so terrible for some hair types (especially wavy/curly) is that it contains silicones. Silicones are like plastics. They are polymers that coat the hair shaft to make hair look shiny. There is an information thread on silicones under the "Product Finder" forum.

Linz has a great point, silicones can be compared to wax. It does scrape or flake off if you have enough buildup. However Pantene can be used safely if paired with a good clarifying routine.

hmm i think my hair could be dry from product buildup..how can i get a clarifying rinse? do i have to go to the salon or can i do it by myself? thanks for the advice!!

oo i was juss lookin around the forum and i saw that suave had a clarifyin rinse..is that good? and also after the clarifyin rinse should i not use any pantene conditioner since they contain silicon?

How about switching to a "less heavy-duty" silicone? You could try Suave Professionals BioBasics, which have a water-soluble silicone called dimethiconol.

Salons don't do vinegar rinses for you. It's one of those Grandma Secrets that really do work. Clarifying is best done with apple cider vinegar and not a shampoo, in my opinion. It smells funny but the smell goes away after your hair is dry. Take 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar, add 2 cups water, put it in a 20 oz soda bottle, and pour it through your scalp and hair after shampooing. Then use a conditioner as usual. More information about clarifying can be found http://anaissatin.freespaces.com/clarifying.html - here .
