Hey I really need your help.

I have dyed my hair dark auburn wayy 2 many times trying to get the right color and I have damaged it badly to where it wont take to permanent dye anymore. I made the biggest mistake yesterday by dyeing my hair again with feria and I just bought a box of colorfix. The past hour I have learned that Colorfix will not work on hair that has been dyed with feria and the best way to fix this problem is to let the natural color grow out. My hair grows very very slowly and I have been trying to grow my hair long for 3 years now. Knowing that I have to cut off the damaged hair I need advice on what to do during the long process of regrowing my hair without being ugly and bald. I have no idea what to do. What is your advice? I read some post of where you actually had chemical damage to your hair and you started over. Im willing to do w/e it takes including even shaving my head, getting a wig, and when my hair gets long enough, getting pinch braid extensions. What do you think? Is there a better solution? Thanx if u have any advice for me.

there is a color remover i use- its called Fade out- it takes it down one level or more

is it too dark?

oOo, of course i would try the colorfix first =P dont get me wrong =).

Salons strongly discourage pantene because it actually coats your hair so it feels soft and silky to the touch. It eventually weighs down your hair so much that it wont have volume or ability to be style. They said it can be helped if you start using a good cleanser like their salon products(and even if they were only trying to sell their products my hair did exactly what they said pantene eventually does to hair.) Im not sure the exact chemical affect but I decided to discontinue the use of pantene and it has helped somewhat.

Hey thanx 4 replying =). I have naturally dark blonde so my natural is alot lighter so mayb that helps. Also, it did feel very straw like when I went to a good salon when they messed up my hair instead of fixing it but eventually I conditioned it enough so its not as bad. The problem is I have been dying my whole head constantly every 6 weeks and even less for at least 3 years(I know this is outragiously terrible and stupid =P) My hair is considered long.. I think its about 5- 6 inches past my shoulder? not sure but its close. I just dyed my hair yesterday with feria and the damage all the way up.(Im still beating myself up over dying my hair w/ feria, let alone in the first place..) The worst damage is from 1/2" past my roots all the way down. Its pretty bad . I do have 8 ounces of clip ins that I use, and the problem was that the clip ins were my desired color and attempting to match that color I damaged my hair to this point. Good newz: they match after the feria dye! heh bad newz is everything else. oOo well, cant worry about it, all I know is I hav 2 get this fixed before my hair starts breaking off again from the salon visit. I overdyed my hair this winter and did this.  Once a week I did the bleach and shampoo and developer thing like Kris said, leaving it on for 10 minutes, and two times a week I washed with Dawn dish detergent and then conditioned with VO5 hot oil.  My hair faded really well in about two monthes.

     I took it slow to give my hair a chance to recover inbetween abuses. 

     Dawn is magic at getting color to fade.

Feria is NOT an metallic color, it's just a regular oxidative dye.

I would go see a professional, someone who is good at color correction.  You will probably have to pay big money to get this fixed, but it does sound fixable.

By the way, I have clients who use that ghastly Pantene which contains tons of wax, and it does end up drying out and weighing down their hair.

so do you all think colorfix is an option or should I do the bleach first? whoever asked my hair is naturally dark blonde and now it is dark dark auburn and very damaged. The thing mainly for me is to repair my hair because its starting to break and is becoming more and more fragile and wont hold shape or color anymore. I like the color but if I wanted to change it I cant, and it will be stick straight unless I repair it soon. Actually the color looks really good w/ my extensions, but it is dark from full head permanent dye.

At first, I wanted to get the color out to start over, but I heard tht even if you get the color out your hair still wont accept color? And also, I need to repair it so it will hold shape again(it used to be full, thick, and bouncy but now its stick straight, flat, and thinning ) I was young and stupid wen I started this process, not knowing what it would do to my hair.

If it is better to use colorfix first, is it safe to use dawn with it? Also, when you say fading does that mean removing some of the permanent color out of the hair or is that just the bleach or both? Sorry about all the questions I just want to know what Im doing =). I guess what Im asking is what do I do when the my natural color grows back in because I do not want to dye it again for fear that I would damage it. I guess what I see is that when the roots come in I will have to get rid of the dark auburn damaged hair. In that case what would be the best way to keep my hair as long as I can w/out cutting it off w/e and when my natural color grows back in what would be the best solution for hiding my short hair. Orrr if their is another solution, what would that be? Im skeptical about dying my hair again or at least until I have some length and I research more on the right colors or start going to a salon to be safe. I just want the fastest possible way to go through this period of time when Im recovering from damaged hair. Im sure the color will fade on its own so I wont have the same color for probably more than a month
