I am going to try the extendtube method but I have some prebonded hair (its called that but it looks like a narrow end with glue)I am going to use.I have already tried a couple and they fit. A store here in Vancouver, B.C. said to install and then cut the prebonded glue end off....is that right?

I am also having mixed emotions about what method to use. I just bought the extendtube kit from "Hairpiece" and I have tried the "Fushion" method and I had alot of breakage. My hair is very thin and fine. Is this method of extendtubes a pretty good method or do you think shrinkies are better? I understand everyone has an opinion.

OOPS...one more question....Can you swim in Chlorine with extensions??

Thanks everyone!!

you don't need to cut the ends off.  I ssume they are shoelace style pretips?  cause the flatter prebonded ones I have seen wouldn't fit.

anyhow, you want to pull your hair through, then push the tip in so it is flush on the scalp side of the tube.  You can have it not quite flush but you don't want it to stick out the top (scalp side).

Then clamp.  I'd clamp a little, then make sure the tip is really where you want it then clamp all the way down.

Most people here think fusion is more damaging than tubes/rings.  My only issues with rings were at removal time.  if you got the kit from hairpiece it should have their removal tool which lowers your rish for trouble.

to prevent breakage with any method you want to keep stray hairs out.  You also want to make sure you use enough of your own hair to support the weight of the extension hair.

I like tubes.  I like shrinkies.  I can do tubes without assistance.  I need a lot of mirrors or an assistant to do shrinkies.
I think I can make shrinkies less detectable than tubes but it takes a lot of effort to do so.  if I just slap tubes in they are less detectable then if i just slap some shrinkies in.  Lots of trade offs.  With tubes you run the risk of folding them over on themselves and causing a bunch of damage at removal time.  with shirnkies you are guaranteed to have to first remove the shrinkie then remove the residue.

So many trade offs.

As to swimming.  You want to minimise the hairs exposure to crap (swimmingpools, oceans, dirt, bugs cause you ride your motorcyle ec) especially if it is human hair.  however, as long as you rinse all the chlorine out promptly when you get out of the pool and its not a twice a day habit or anything crazy like that you should be okay.

if you are swimming laps, coat your hair in conditioner under your cap befor eyou get in the pool.  of course if you are swimming laps you probably know to do that in general.

you try very hard to find a way to pry them open.  and then start pulling your hair out from the top one strand at a time.  If you are lucky you don't break off much of your hair.  But like I said the opener really keeps that at bay.

Or, if you have a strong pair of metal snips and someone to help, the can very carefully cut one of the edges of the tube off, then slide it off your hair. I used to have to do this sometimes. But honestly, since I got the removal pliers (the ones with the hole in the middle), I haven't had any fold over.

IF YOU WANT TO HAVE AN EASY DAMAGE FREE 10 MIN REMOVAL BUY THIS! it opens the ring for you! just place the ring into the groove and clamp down, it's so simple. normaly if you clamp to hard you open then close the ring back. but with this it stops clamping after the ring is open! good luck.
