Hello, all; I'm new here and I need help!  Here's my situation: I have fine, pin-straight hair, that I consider medium-long, and it's dark brown.  I've had it parted slightly off-center for the past ten years (I'm 30, btw) w/ no bangs (pretty much all one length).

My face shape is a cross between a diamond and an oval (more diamond, actually), my complexion is fair, and I have some freckles.  I had bangs when I was little and I'm thinking about going back to them.  Here's why: I have a slight widow's peak AND a cowlick on the top of my forehead at my hairline.  When I pull my hair back, I have little wisps at the base of my hairline that barely grow more than a half-inch and these little wisps tend to grow in a 'point' (a la widow's peak) AND they grow 'curving' downward, like a reverse-cowlick, I guess you could say.  It's impossible to get these guys to go 'back'; they just don't grow that way

It seems like it would be more 'natural' for my hair to have bangs since it wants to grow downward anyway.  I also think bangs (medium to short blunt bangs, think 50's style) would balance my face considerably and make my forehead look more in-proportion to my wide cheekbones.

What do you guys think about this?  I'm a very low-maintenance hair-person; I wash, condition, leave-in conditon, part and dry; I rarely use any hair spray, mousse, gel, etc; I prefer it silky and natural.

ANY advice you have would be greatly appreciated.  I've also tried parting my hair straight down the middle and on either side, and it still doesn't 'fit'.  PLEASE HELP ME!!  Thanks so much

If you've worn the same style for the past 10 years and you aren't happy with it, by all means go for change!  The best way to see if bangs look good on you is to try on a wig (if you can) to make sure you'll like them.  Or if your hair is long enough, take the ends and hold them over your forehead to see what you think.

You have a nice face shape for bangs, oval can do about anything, and it sounds nice for diamond too.  Good luck!

Thanks so much; I do have a wig, albeit a long, Elvira-ish wig w/ bangs that looked alright on me a few years ago, and I have done the thing where I make a bang-part and hold my hair over my forehead to simulate bangs...it looks good, but I guess I'm nervous.

I'm getting married in October and I want a new look, but I'm afraid it'll look worse; I signed-up for the Stellure 3-D model so maybe once I get a 'model' of myself on the computer I can try on a bunch of different things...I'm also thinking about ordering Hair U Wear attachable bangs....thanks again!

Yeah, I know change is scary! In all honesty, bangs look good on many people so from what you described, you'll probably be fine.  (The only people who really have trouble with them are people like me...first I have a long nose, long face, and a slightly weak chin, so bangs make me look like the donkey in Shrek, and I have a cowlick in the opposite direction as you so they always want to stick straight up).  But they sound like they'd work for you, and if your wig and your Stellure look good, you're good to go! I have also heard people have a lot of fun with the Hair U Wear clip on bangs too!

Thanks again for your advice...and the laugh @ you looking like the donkey from Shrek (though I'm sure that's NOT the case)......I tend to have long features as well and my chin isn't uber-strong either.....I ordered the clip on bangs in a dark brown and I'll let you know how they work out when I'm get them in  Thanks again for your help and humor; I really appreciate it
