Whatz Happenin Everybody

My name is Cherish and I'm new here.  I've been reading everybody's posts and it seems like yall got some really good hair advice.  My hair is short and I want to grow back all the hair I had when I was a kid(I'm only 16 years old).  I've tried a lot of products such as Doo Gro and Profective and it seems like nothing is working.  I've heard that going to the hair salon every 2 weeks or so and getting it trimmed helps a lot.  I haven't tried that yet but I plan to do it.  My hair is about 1 inch past my ear.  I also want to try going natural b/c getting perms haven't helped much.  If anybody has any advice for a teenager who is trying to grow out her perm please feel free to help a young sista out.

God Bless

How long have you given it by now?

If you ago to the salon every 2 weeks to get it trimmed, it will never grow longer, and will probably grow shorter and shorter. Cutting off damage can improve the overall condition of your hair, but only if it's damaged, and does nothing to make it grow faster. Your hair grows 1/2" a month, so you need to cut less than that much in order to see growth. I recommend you wait a couple of months before you trim, and then only 1/4". Condition, condition, condition to improve the health of your hair so it doesn't need to be trimmed.
