I've been looking at various straighteners lately, when I realized that there are a BUNCH of different plates out there!!!

What's the difference that is made when different surfaces are made? Which is considered best for the hair? Thanks a bunch!

I don't think porcelain is supposed to be good. I know ceramic is supposed to be the best. I use a sedu, which is ceramic and tourmaline.

stay away from the ones that say they are gold(not real gold  of course). They just fry hair.Ceramic is good like layla said and tourmaline is supposed to be really good(but I havent treid it).I have heard goood things though.sedu is a good brand.Chi is a good brand but you cant wrap the cord up cause it hurts the coils and it will break.

My Chi has just broke from me always wrapping the chord up and packing it away with me. The HAI is also a very good iron, and the chord will wrap better, and is a ceramic plate as well. Check it out!

I agree, HAI rocks! Anyway i had my hair straightened in the salon recently w/ the porcelain iron by babybliss i think, and it straightned it just as well as the ceramic ones. I didn't really noticed that big of a difference. Altho i've heard great things abt the tourmaline iron...

Sedu, Sedu, Sedu. You can't go wrong. It is ceramic and tourmaline and just a miracle. I wouln't use anything else.

Yeah I heard the Hai is good, but I have never tried it. I do have the Hai ceramic turmaline hair dryer and it ROCKS!. It is amazing how soft and shiny your hair comes out, and the best part, it does it in half the time than with a regular dryer. If you are ever looking for a great dryer get that one. It is expensive ($120) but worth it. I got mine on ebay for $79 and couldn't be happier.
