Hi Mocha!!

I got in from Las Vegas this morning on the red eye (yes I was still, um, intoxicated), crashed then dragged my self to the office to get the package of hair. YES IT IS HERE and it is gorgeous!!!  Here is the mountain of it:

I ordered 1.2 kg which is about 39 oz; he sent me more like 48 oz; but the hair is about 17-1/2" long. hm. We ordered the "21 - 22" hair so I need to send him an email.

I'll post more later and will send the hair out tomorrow.

It doesn't even look totally black either I may only have to do very minimal chemical altering.

How do the ends feel?

Oh boy that really sucks though about the length.

What is up with the length?  Before sending any of this hair out to us see what he has to say.  I was really wanting the 21 inches.

Yes it is extremely disappointing. He has always been very responsive about replying. I will let you know as soon as I hear back. grrrrrr.

Well anyway, even if he refuses to take it back, I'll buy two of those bundles off of you. I've got a friend who wears 18" black at the moment and needs to switch out her hair.

Hey Fina  is that hair bulk or on a weft?  on computer at work, screen not very clear?

The hair is on a weft, and it is gorgeous. It's just that it's 18" and not the 20-21" as promised.

Anyway I'll post better pics this evening.  For everybody who ordered it - I will refund your money if I can't get this worked out and if you don't want the hair. Welcome to the world of direct importing!!! Just when I thought I had it down. . .

I'll still take the 18 inch Fina. Thanks so much for taking this all on. The hair looks beautiful too.

But if you PAID for 20" and got 17" - that's a significant difference!

Looks beautiful, Fina. But it's a drag about the length. Apparently, this is common practice among bulk suppliers. You ask for 22, they send 18, 14, whatever they have available. I can't understand their approach to doing business. :)

Posted By: shel221
Date Posted: June 09 2005 at 4:38pm

Maybe they sent 48oz instead of 39oz to make up for the length?  It would have been nice of them to email you saying they only had 18 instead before just shipping it out as if you send back to them then you'll be out of pocked for all the extra shipping.

Shel, I'm thinking what you're thinking. But anyway. I took the hair out of the ponytails and it is actually closer to 20". See photos. As I said - the hair is really pretty:

Syren: Yes, Your'e right. The hair was supposed to be  "20-21" and I got more like 19-20". We'll see what he says.

Rae: OK, you're on. I'll be in touch.

Elvira: Thanks - I appreciate your understanding!! I think you'll really like the hair! I will ship it out tomorrow.

I'm going to PM everyone I owe hair to and see what their thoughts are.

I"m still in FIna.  I don't usually use that long of hair anyhow so it's more that I'm irritated that the company would do us like that without even saying anything.

Kinda like hello, just because you can do more heads with shorter hair does not mean you didn't want the long hair anyhow????

But like you said importing and what not.

I'm not even sure what I'm going to do with it.  I just really wanted it...

ahh hair addiction!

Im good with the length FinaFina. If its closer to 20 Im ok. 18 inch is the shortest that I like to go on length, and I prefer to stay in the 20-22 inch range. How do the ends look? Does it look as the ends will need much trimming? It would just be nice if these companies would send the length that you order! Is that too much to ask? LOL

Posted By: FinaFina
Date Posted: June 09 2005 at 6:43pm
Hi Sherrie:
Actually I recall in earlier discussions that you suggested we order the longer length because of the triming we might need to do. SO THANK YOU -- I recally you saying that sometimes you had to trim off as much as 5 inches. This hair needs MAYBE an inch trimmed. If you look at the photo by the pool it shows the ends. Honestly, they are in darn good condition. Anyway I'll see what my Indian boyfriend says . . .and in the meantime I"ll ship out the hair!!

well I remember the discussion but I cant remember who it was that said sometimes they had to trim up to 5 inches.(Maybe Kimbearly) Phew....Im glad we wont have to trim that much! LOL I thought the photos looked like the ends were in pretty good shape, but its difficult to tell in a picture. Hey I will need some bleaching help, I remember we talked about that a little.

Posted By: FinaFina
Date Posted: June 09 2005 at 6:55pm

Sherrie:

I am going to bleach a batch of it. I need to get some wetter bleach; the "cream " bleach gets too dried out and what I've discovered is that the hair comes up beautifully in the first 5-10 minutes, with heat; after that it's kind of useless. I recall my hairdresser talking about the fact that the hair and bleach need to stay moist. I'll experiment on Saturday a.m. and see what happens. Just FYI: I am still wearing a few strands of this hair, bleached, and it is holding up absolutely beautifully.

You can get 'clear' developer rather than 'cream'

But I've also always been toldyou can add more developer to keep the bleach wet.

Fina, please do not feel bad about any of this because it is not your fault.  We all went into this kind of blind since you never ordered a real order from them and we all went in it with you to get a great deal on hair.  The hair does look very pretty and shiny.  I still want the hair too and the ends do look really nice.  Still interested in what he had to say but please send mine out   Again, Thanks for everything.

EMAIL DIALOGUE BELOW. Whew. At least he replied, and, um, I feel kind of stupid at this point, but oh well.  .  . live and learn!!  The supplier is called Sri Nivetha, and they are based in Chennai, India. The order took about 2 weeks total, but he had told me that so there were no surprises. He let me know that they were working on a double drawn order and asked if I wanted to be part of that. As I said I've dealt with a lot of asian suppliers in my business and so I felt that this was a good one.  He delivered what he said he would, in the time he said it would. So here's our answer gals!

*************************************************

Dear Ms. Carolyn,

Received your mail. Madam, remy double drawn 20"-21" after wefting will be around 18"only.
Also to have a good finish the bottom side is level trimmed after wefting is done.

Hope you understand this Please note if you want 20" remy double drawn after weftinig then you must order 23"-24".

Kindly give us your opinion regarding the quality of hair and wefting.
any further questions please feel free. Awaiting  your reply.

Thanking you,

With regards,

M. Senthil

Hello Mr. Senthil:

I received your shipment. However, there is a problem! I ordered 20-21" hair and this is 18" maximum; in fact most of it is 17"! I sold it to people based on it being 20-21", but it is much shorter.

What happened?  I am very concerned. I paid the price for 20"-21" but did not receive anything near that.

Please reply. This is a major problem.

Best regards,
Carolyn

You know FinaFina, now that youve mentioned this I do recall hearing that before too. When you order raw hair that you have to order several inches longer if you have them weft it! If we had purchased bulk, we would have gotten the full 20-21 length. So we live and learn! We will have to remember that for a future order!

I wondered about that.  But I didn't think it took that much length to weft hair.

Oh well.
Now we know.

This happens all the time when you source direct. Sorry girls I
did mention this about my sourcing experience and the length
issues dealing with them. They told me 2" gets taken off when it
goes into wefting production, but I have seen them take off
more like 3-4" off the length!! The hair looks beautiful Fina. I
think he is still worth working with because this hair looks very
good and the length is not 3-4" shorter than expected. They
should really explain the wefting hair length loss prior to you
purchasing but they ever do. I always order 4"-6" longer length
to be guaranteed the length I want and allow for trimming the
ends. I think the ends look pretty decent from what I can see
from the photos. Good Luck with the hair girls!!

Yes I washed it and it is absolutely gorgeously straight-ish when wet and dried completely shiny and straight. No change in texture whatsover: Not stick straight, not wavy, but just ever-so-much-of-a-hint of a natural wave.

I can't wait to play with it this weekend (coloring wise)!!!

I know I can get to 8 and 613 very easily; I'm thinking of ordering some of the RK hair for the more-difficult-to-achieve in-between colors. But the AWESOME thing is that since this hair is so close to my natural color (very dark brown), the way it processes coloring-wise is very close to my own, and the match ends up being really great!!

I still have some of the 613 in that I bleached, what, a month ago? It is absolutely beautiful. It is kicking Bohyme's butt!!

Anyway. Will post more. . . .

Hey Fina- has all the hair been partitioned out yet? Are there two spare bags, preferably as close to black as possible, and if so, how much would you want for them?

OK - everybody should be receiving their hair today.

If feedback is good, I'll place another order. Prices will be slightly higher (I didn't quite cover my costs last time), probably $60 per weft which is 100g, or 3.5 oz. I know this is more expensive than the RK hair and we need to figure out if it's worth the extra expense.

Okey Dokey. I got my hair yesterday. Just really getting a chance to play with it now. :)

It's pretty. Between a 2 and a (dark) 4 I guess, depending on what chart you use. I'm in the process of lightening it, and the hair that came out after my first strand tests last night felt silkier and looked shinier than the hair did right off the bat! Which had been my only minor issue...it had a bit of a texture to it which did not affect the way it "hung" but seemed to make it tangle a bit. Now I'm sure that was just residue on the hair from whatever they washed it with before. It's just like Fina said - not quite stick straight, but not wave either. I was actually expecting more of a wave. I has enough body I think it will hold a curl well, though.

I'm lightening it with kalideocolors beige powder and 30 volume. Test last night took it to a pretty warm brown, but I need it a bit lighter, I'm trying to get to light auburn. Leaving it on a bit longer right now. Plan on using a demi on it after wards, so I can just color it with my normal hair. (I stripped the black out.) Taking it to a 5, maybe? Well see, lol.

The wefts are very interesting. So tiny and neat! I considered just wearing the wefts in my hair even though I have already ordered shrinkies from amm, then remembered I'm not brunette anymore and the thread is black . For those of you concerned with the length lost while wefting, if will be very easy to get it back. This weft you have to handle gently, gluing off the ends when you cut it. But you can just sort of tug on the strand of hair at the cut end and it slides out rather neatly, along with the folded over length. Not too much fuss. Doesn't bother me, I'm short and don't wear my hair as long as a lot of you, but some may be quite pleased with this.

I'll post pics of the strand tests when i finish with them. Can't wait till you all get your hair and start posting results

update:

here are the three test strands I dyed using the kaliedocolor and 30 vol. Left on for 25, 40, and 60 minutes. Didn't really use heat except to wave a hair dryer over it a couple of times at the beginning. I tweaked it in photoshop so (on my monitor, anyway) the colours are almost true to life. The 60 minute one looks a bit lighter in life, I think. With the red demi, I believe they'll make a nice spectrum of natural looking colour. I'm quite pleased . I'll add more pics as I add more dye.

I've had beautiful results with dying it as well. The hair is really strong and keeps its shine.

Anyway - in case any of you hadn't seen my earlier pics of the weft itself, here it is. In the meantime the supplier tells me they now even have a *more* superior, *smaller* microweft. He is going to send a sample.

Yeah, UPS does that to me too when I order from Ebonyline. EL is about five miles north of me- I'm in central Chicago, they're in northside Chicago- but UPS still sends any packages from them out to their sorting facility out in Rockford or something before sending them to me. If I use EL again, I swear I'm going to just see if I can pick up my order from their office.

I got home
I had a package!

My husband is a little grossed out that it's *real* hair.  I saw a couple nits but I need to go out anyhow so I'll pick u a flea comb.

The color almost dead on matches me to begin with.  It's a tiny bit darker but I think I can either color my hair alittle or just let my hair look like highlights.

of course I'm not actually sure when i'm going to wear this hair...
And the texture is perfect too.

Something i never asked and I don't know how to tell since this is my first HH.

This is remy?  aside fromt he fact that it would tangle how do i tell?  Put it under a microscope?  That seems tedious.

:)

hmmm. Good question. I suppose as the seller I should KNOW how to tell it's REMY; it is what my supplier sold it to me as, after I grilled him left, right, up, and down; gosh do I feel stupid!!

I received mine when I got home from work tonite. It's beautiful and soft and alot longer than I expected! I love the little tiny wefts-bet they work great for sewn in wefts. Never been good at hair coloring.

Sans, I like the browns in your pic. What brand of color is it or did I miss something?

Got my hair today too.  It did have some oily stuff on it so I washed the hair before I lifted the color.  The hair is very shiny and very straight :O(  Fina, I do not think that this is Indian hair but more  Asain.  Indian hair that I have bought in the past has always had a wave to it and it curls on the bottom; this is mostly straight.  What do you other's think?

-------------

Posted By: FinaFina
Date Posted: June 18 2005 at 6:00am

I ordered straight hair from the supplier. He had sent me both wavy and curly samples, but I ordered the straight because I thought it had enough body. It came directly from India. I suppose it would be impossible to know if it was actually cut off the head of an Indian or an Asian person. But I don't think it feels Asian, it's a bit finer than that, and not stick-straight. If you have any that you haven't colored yet, I'll gladly refund your money. - Fina

okay at the risk of sounding silly.

I have read that asian hair has a round cross section and caucasian (which is what indian hair is) has an oval cross section.

back to the microscope idea.  shouldn't we be able to prove one way or the other somehow?

I doubt the scope I have easy access to is powerful enough but I have to go in today anyhow so what the heck.

I'll check for cuticle direction and round vs oval.

Does anyone know, amm, what cinderella hair from afrocare is?  I have a sample of that I could compare to...

Additionally I am confused as to why Indian hair is supposed to be curly.  I know many Indian women.  About half of them have straight hair.  And these are not people that I think will spend serious time with straightening irons.  Okay yes the rest have varying degrees of curly hair but...???

Posted By: FinaFina
Date Posted: June 18 2005 at 11:14am
  • Indian Hair is *not* supposed to be curly as a rule. Like a lot of hair, some is straight, some is wavy, some is curly.

Thanks for the offer Fina but I have not given up on this hair yet.  I just love the hair.  I love the feel of it and how shiny it is.  Since my hair has a wave to it I was thinking about doing a very loose perm on it so it will match my hair.  Are you getting wavy Indian hair anytime soon?
