I'm going to venture into the wonderful (and expensive) world of extensions.  My problem----I live in Indiana.  Where oh where are the good extensionists around here??  I know I may have to travel to Chicago, but I thought I would ask all the lovely ppl here first!

it all depends on what you want

Rae is in chicago

try the hairpolice website.  they have an affiliate finder that you just feed your zipcode into

I understand I live in indiana too.And the only extensions I have found offered are great lengths and bonded wefts.I would go to chicago. There are alot more options there and the prices dont hurt either.Indiana just seems to be a horrible place for hair sadly.

Thank you for the welcome BirdOfEden!!   Yes, Indiana is not the best when it comes to trendy things.  I went to a Great Lengths chic and had a consult....I could not believe how much she wanted to charge me!!  I was thinking about going more with the braiding techniques.  I have baby fine hair so I'm thinking the pinchbraid thing probably won't work, but maybe the hair wefts???

Where did you go? I know I went to Tyler mason where they offer great lengths. Its in hendricks county. They wanted $800 which is actually pretty cheap for great lengths.Plus the extensionist seemed really nice and new to the whole method. She told me I could wear the method for six months which I know now with my hair Would have been horrible. She wore great lengths in her own hair but only for highlights.I think thats why she was unaware of the damage it could cause.ANYWHOOO...  pinchbraids are supposed to be great even on fine hair.Alot of people here who wear pinchbraids seem to have the best luck with pinchbraids.I wish it was something I could do myself.

I went to Danita Hair Designs.  She wanted to charge my about $1800.  She told me that they would only last about 2 months and that I would have to pay that price every time!!  I almost choked!

She was nice too, but her salon was in Carmel...and all that that implies.

I would think that the pinch braids would show on fine hair....?

I would definitely give Rae a call. She does several methods, including pinchbraids and heat-seals, her work is stellar, and she's much more reasonably priced than those salons.

By the way, all extensions (including GLs) need to be removed after 3 months. This gets *very* expensive with GLs, in particular, and the method can be very damaging to the hair. I wouldn't recommend it.

Good luck! :)

Yes, both of you should drop me a line! I'm just outside of downtown Chicago, which is really not far from Indiana.

And pinchbraids are great for fine hair, as they're non-damaging and can be made as big or as small as they need to be, so that they are easily concealed by the hair on top.

Also, Sunlove, I -adore- your sig line. I do that sort of thing all the time!

I think next time I do a real install I'll be there.Your prices are really great rae.For now I'll just go with clip ins.

Sunlove:i know what you mean.Seems like everything is double in carmel even if its the exact same thing.I could tell the extensionist wasnt trying to rip me off,she was just badly misinformed.Great lengths had sold her alot of false propaganda and she bought it hook line and sinker.
