Ok, so I have been unsuccessfully practicing my shrinkie install all morning.

I have hair that I've pretipped with LG and then coated in nail glue, and I'm using Docs clamp and Amms shrinkies... from what I've read on here that seems to be the preferred combo.

BUT I cannot make them stay without slipping out! I'm practicing on a spare piece of weft hair I have, not on my head, and I'm using the clamp set to the highest temp, and waiting a few seconds till they sizzle and then rolling them between my fingers (ouch by the way!) and then I wait till it's cool and give it a little tug to see if it's in ok, and it slips right out!

Any ideas anyone? I seem to remember someone else posting with a simiular problem to this but I can't find the thread now...

are the shrinkies sliding down the hair or is tip falling out?
Some people thinkt he nail glue makes the tips slip out.  I didn't have this problem.

But if its not sticking to the weft hair, I have a couple of thoughts.
What kind of hair is it?  If its cheaper HH it may have a coating on it to make seem nice.  maybe that's causing the slipping.
Does the hair have the cuticle still?  I'm not sure where I'm going with that one but yeah.

Also.  The Shrinkies get hot and the glue melts before the plastic completely shrinks.  Ihave better hold if I leave that wand on there at least 20 seconds probably closer to 30.  Also I only squish rather than roll.  Not sure how that figures in.

Lots of people have had similar problems.  There isn't toomuch of a common thread between them that' I've picked up on.  Maybe I shoud reread and see if tere is actually a common theme.

It's possible that this hair has a coating on it, I didn't think of that, it is just a cheap HH weft from one of the beauty supply stores here which is why I'm practicing on it.

i am honestly not sure about the cuticle, though I doubt it has one because it seems pretty processed.

Though I did just try a shrinkie with no pre-tip inside to see if it would hold and it seems to hold great, just no go once I put a tip inside.

The whole thing is sliding out, not just the tip.

I did one just now that held in a little better though, it took quite tug before it slipped out. I will try a piece in my actual hair and see if it holds... maybe it is down to a wierd coating on that cheap hair...

I will also try holding the wand on longer and see what happens with that. thanks! I will report back!

Let it cool all the way before you tug.
