okay i am lost. up until now my mom and i both thought that the micro ring technique was the best. but they keep slipping and are very uncomfortable at night. she was fine silky stright hair, and wants to have a non damaging, non- bulky, comfortable extension. she wants it waist length, and i dont know what method to use. what would be best for fine shoulder length hair that wants to be waist length. please help.

Comfort is relative.

and new extensions almost always make your head sore expecially for sleeping.

as to the slipping the only thing I can come up with id that they have too much hair int hem which m eans that they can't be closed tight enough.  or there is some very slippy glie action going.

I can't stress enough that with every method I have used it hurts a bit a first especially to sleep.

An ibuprofen before bed helps.

we are going to give them a chance i re clamped them and she is going to leave them for atleast a month. but if she keeps having issues at night we are goign to take them out now.

what method should we try next time? i have been researching http://malaysianmethod.tripod.com/ - http://malaysianmethod.tripod.com/  and http://www.glamourhair.com/extensions/Supplies-ApplyPretipped.asp - http://www.glamourhair.com/extensions/Supplies-ApplyPretippe d.asp

well there is a certain amount of 'discomfort' at first with any extension method. It takes some geting used to. The slipping could be from the ring not being clamped tight enough, or too much hair in the ring causing it to not clamp shut well enough. You really really have to clamp down on them babies, to make sure they are clamped tight. Id try the rings agin before giving up on them, most of the time its just a matter or 'tweaking' your install.

Well, I wouldn't recommend that second link, because it's fusion. Fusion causes damage on some people, most frequently on fine hair.

As for the rings- I've had a lot of trouble with them slipping, but recently  I've been doubling-up the rings- that is, putting two rings on the same section of hair and tip, one ring below the other with about an eighth of an inch between them. It's working great so far; I did some streaks on a friend with rings, and the first time she lost about 15-20 strands, and the second time she lost something very minimal, like two. The first time I had single-ringed the streaks, but the second time I had double-ringed them, which I'm pretty sure is what caused the improved hold.

Since you've already put them in, you can re-apply the ones that fell with two rings- or maybe try to thread the whole hair section (client's hair and extension) through the ring at once, at install it below the existing one?
