if a do a darker underlayer can i get away with not dying my bottom hair?  my bottom hair is naturally darker than my top right now cause the tops been lightened by the sun but its still lighter than the extension hair. thanks for any input

I say yes you can get away with it.

I've only donw an undercolor via extension once and did dye nd wish I hadn't cause it was more trouble than it was worth.

It should be ok. It would be as if you went in and low lighted the underneeth . Right? The lighter strands would still be there.

If you don't tend to wear your hair up, you should be fine without coloring your hair.  Even if it did, as Marie said, it would just look like lowlights.
