Hi,

Just a bit of a query really!

Im having great problems with my hair colour. I was getting blonde
highlights put through which looked quite natural but on sunday last
week i got the roots done but the hairdresser put too much bleach on for
too long so i looked like a blonde bimbo!!

Unhappy i went back and said i wanted to return to my natural colour.
She added a semi permanant dye to my hair which was browny red, which
took nicely but when she dried it, it was pretty much VERY red, aargh!!

Im ok with it at for the mo but with it being semi permanant i know it will
only lask a week or so.....so my question is, do i have to go back and fork
out more money on hair colour to get a permanant put in, OR can i now
get one from a shop and do it myself. Just want to know i f it will turn
green or if it will be ok to do now seeing as im no longer blonde and have
a semi permanant reddidh base????!!!!!

Hope someone has an answer for me, thanks a lot,

sam x

You should ask for a free re-color to tone down the red

I hope it fades.I know a semi perm on bleached hair can take more like a permanent color.I know from first hand experience. It will probably fade a bit.But there is a good chance you'll be stuck with red until you redye.Give it some time.your hair could possibly react different.

Longhairdreams is right...semis over bleach really stick.  However, it is very likely that after a few washings, the red will fade to brown.  If it fades more than you like, you can easily maintin the semi permanent color.  If all of your hair is now a warm brown, you should be able to find a similar shade to use when it fades.  I like Clairol Colorgloss, which is available at Sallys (about $4 for the color and the developer is between $3 and $6 depending on whether you get the large or small bottle).  I could be off a little on the prices.  Still, I've used it a lot and really like it.

What about permanent red? Will it fade as well?

Permanent red only fades if you don't want it to.

Thanks for all your input guys, i did go back to get the colour toned down
but for some reason it stayed quite red, and is now fading to a light red,
not too nice!!

Could you answer me one more question though, can i now go get a hair
dye from a supermarket to permanantly dyd it myself and it wont go
green??

sam

xx

If your color is red, it should not turn green. It is pale blond that turns green when recolored with a green-based ash dye.

You might try a semi-permanent ash brown.  It should help tone down the red more.  You could also use permanent, but the semi is less damaging.
