Does anyone still visitl the salon? If so, what for and how often do you go? My last trip was a year and a half ago. Even though my hair came out fantastic, I didn't like all the heat she used to do it. I stopped going after that. I had soo many bad hair experiences in the past I decided not to keep going.
I might go back for just a nice trim before Fall semester though.

My last visit was almost a year ago. But I dont think I will ever go back to the lady, she did a number on my hair... and it wasn't even a good number. So my mom and I decided that I wasn't going back for a long time.

My last visit was years ago when I was in college. It wasn't a bad experience or anything, I just haven't been back since....

I last saw my stylist in the first week of May. I'll see her again for a touch up in August. Assuming I can survive 'til then.

My last visit was a month ago but I just got braids. I hardly ever go to the salon, I do my own hair. I don't trust anyone to put heat on my hair or cut it so I only go to the salon to get wet sets and that's hardly never.

So I'm not the only one who hasn't been there in awhile. After a few mishaps and finding sites like this I think I can take better care of my hair. I can honestly say it hasn't been healthier.

My last visit was January 2005 for a relaxer and then 3 weeks later for permanent color. I have opted NOT to ever go to the salon again, eventhough I have had okay experiences. I know how to do everything myself that I might need to go to the salon for: permanent color, relaxer, wet set, perm rods, cornrows, trims, etc. I do my own relaxers and trim my own hair. My hair does so much better without peoples hands in it.

hair stylists make me SOOO mad!!! I hate to generalize, but in my experience, each of the stylists Ive been to have acted like they know more about my hair than I do, make my hair smell burnt, make me feel ashamed of my natural hair texture ( in fact, two have charged me extra because I didn't have a perm), burn hair off without notifying me, and cut waaaaayyy too much!!
I only know one hairstylist that hasn't harmed me and thats my cousin at HeadQuarters in Pasadena (Cali). I bet this wouldnt happen to me if I would just stick with one hairstylist.. I just think I care a lot more and know alot more about my own hair than someone else who hasnt lived with it for 19 years.

I usually do everything my self. The stylist was asking me what products I used and how i wash my hair, and acted surprised at all my answers. When she was done she told me she was going to make some product recommendations, but it seemed like I was doing everything right and knew alot about my hair. I was like hmm I like her, until she started telling my that while I haven't seen any problems from self relaxing I couldn't grow my hair out long doing my own relaxers. Then went on to say that I should come in every other month for trims, and let her relax my hair, and that I shouldn't stretch my relaxers

I last saw a 'stylist' at the end of April to get my hair relaxed. It wasn't my usual girl. Let's just say my little issue with the back of my hair breaking was amplified by the fact that she used too strong of a relaxer and when I asked her to wash it out she said that she could wash the front because it was done, but not the back, because it was still a little curly. 3 minutes later (I counted) after a 'discussion' the relaxer was gone and the neutralizer in, but it took until now, 2 protein treatments a month, half a bottle of each WGO, SCurl Spray, MTG and Paul Mitchells Botanical Oils (for the jojoba oil), conditioning treatments once a week, enough water to enrich a small country and following the advice on this board to get the back part of my strong again.
On the other hand, because of all this handling, the front part of my head seems to be thriving - go figure....

December. I went for a trim and to get my hair blown out for my
birthday. It felt like she was handling my hair too rough and I came
home with a bunch of short hairs from breakage.
