For anyone with a bad hair odor....  I recently tried a home conditioning remedy for dry hair that included whipped eggs.  I whipped the ENTIRE egg, not just the protein white part, and then put the mixture of egg and mayonaise on my hair with a shower cap.  I then sat in the sun to heat activate the conditioning.  I am not sure exactly what caused the rotten smell.  I left the mixture on until my hair was completely dry and then tried to rinse/shampoo it out.  NOTHING was working.  I finally went to a salon expecting to pay a lot to professionally get rid of the smell.  Instead I was told to go to WalMart and buy SeaBreeze facial toner.  I used that, left it on about 5 minutes and it worked like a charm.  The first time.

You were smelling the eggs spoiling on your head. The exact chemical is a gas called hydrogen sulfide, which is toxic in much larger amounts than rotten eggs produce.

Thanks for the tip about the SeaBreeze!  I don't think I'd let eggs dry on my head though.  After they are dry they won't have any more conditioning effect (just when wet).  One of my exes from way way back used to use eggs when he spiked his hair into a foot high mohawk...they can really get hard when they dry and that makes it more of a pain to wash out than it needs to be.
