Allure (July 2005) had a special on hair. For fine hair they said the best cut was blunt, shoulder length hair with heavy layers framing the face. I got the blunt shoulder length hair, but I'm trying to grow out my bangs right now so I didn't get the layers. My bangs are about to the top of my cheek.

How can I style this cut since its so plain? And you know when you have one length hair the ends do that weird thing? I don't know how to explain it, but the ends kind of look like they're going different directions and look...hmm harsh?

I'm very bad at styling hair and my hair WILL NOT HOLD A CURL OR A WAVE OR ANYTHING!!! It's stick straight and I tried scrunching it....it didn't work, or maybe I'm doing it wrong? urrg. i don't know. please help. i just want something I can do every day that looks cute. casual.

Funny how they say all people with a certain type of hair should have the same haircut. I'm not sure layers work for everybody with fine hair. Often it just makes the hair look thin.

I would agree that for many people, shoulder-length hair is very high maintenance, and often you end up looking styleless.

I have fine hair. When it was chin to shoulder length, my ends did all those weird things, too. I have a passport picture that looks totally nothing, taken on a wash-and-dry day. I ended up blow-drying it with one of those round brushes. It was a major battle. But a few inches later, it started to look right.

I think you should grow your hair to BSL. You won't have those problems anymore, and you can put your hair into lots of updos for variety.
