How long has it been since there was actually some hair news?

Finally Samaire Armstrong does something bold.  After growing out to various styles that just didn't suit her she goes for the full crop and is pretty hot.

She's got one of those faces that is more interesting than beautiful but I can really get into her after watching entourage for a while.  She's got this really good funky style.  This is really boyish but I Like this look a lot.

I don't like this new cut, the last one was alot better. With this new color and cut i think she lookes abit like the blonde lindsey lohan.

This is news? All she seems to do is change her hairstyle!

Thats what this board USE to be about, celebrities and the changes they make to their hair.   Now it's, seems to be more about what one or two posters think about some pic one of the dug up on the net.  Maybe thats what the newer crowd enjoys.  Me, I miss the old days when I could pop in once or twice a day, see a new post and it be breaking hair news rather than a back and forth blog between just a couple posteres.  Or even worse, "yeah, LOL" replied to with "LOL"

I'm with you Hal.  It seems that for the past month (or since Natalie Portman got a crewcut) there hasn't been any hair cutting news and I have been actively seeking some.

Can't make something happen once or twice a day if there isn't any news. Doubt that the female species changed their hair habits drastically in the last few months or years.

Good Job Trout, nice find.  This is REAL hair news, as opposed to showing 3 year old pictures of pretty actressess.

Have to agree with Hal. Conversations about some arbitrary picture with exactly zero news value are seriously boring. I'm kinda missing the old days when most threads on this board used to be about celebritity hair *news*.

As for Samaire Armstrong: I like the short hair. Looks better than anything she had over the last couple of months or even years.

Well, they have changed it enough to keep this board going just fine for at least the last 5 years that I've been visiting it.  In past, rather than just dig up something or just post a "yeah, I agree" or "LOL" we didn't post... oh well maybe the newer users like this new way... time will tell.

I think it's very good to "dig up" something. After all, the title of this board is "Celebrity Hair Talk" and not "Celebrity Hair News"--though I'm sure we cover any breaking celebrity hair news that comes along.

There really just hasn't been any news of note.  Its been a bummer to see how generic people are going lately.  Extensions galore and not a whole lot of interest.

Being that I am pretty new to the board I am going to stay away from the converstation of "what the board use to be like", I think everybody should be happy that their is this great board in the first place for all us hair obsessed people to go and talk when the people around us get sick of us talking about hair and go for the reason why  this topic was started.

I don't like this new cut or color. I liked it better in "The O.C" although I have never seen a episode just pictures. She could also do a lot more styles with that cut:

http://www.imdb.com/gallery/granitz/2186/Events/2186/SamaireArm_Grani_1854845_400.jpg?path=pgallery&path_key=Armstrong,%20Samaire - http://www.imdb.com/gallery/granitz/2186/Events/2186/Samaire Arm_Grani_1854845_400.jpg?path=pgallery&path_key=Armstro ng,%20Samaire

However I also liked it when she had long hair:

http://www.imdb.com/gallery/hh/1027847/HH/1027847/sa007.jpg?path=pgallery&path_key=Armstrong,%20Samaire - http://www.imdb.com/gallery/hh/1027847/HH/1027847/sa007.jpg? path=pgallery&path_key=Armstrong,%20Samaire

Just my thoughts I wanted to share.

It doesn't look like the same person when she had long hair. Not a very pretty look for her. The best hair is the one she has on the "OC" ... Thats what I think anyway..

And on the other subject, if someone doesn't find a topic interesting there is always the possibility of chosing if one wants to comment it...
I agree with Fatmoogas, this board is called celebrity hair talk, and I asumed that everything that is related to that is a possible subject for a topic?

But I am farely new here...

Hal, thanks for saying what I've been thinking for months now.

She's smokin'. Always has been, still is, always will be. Long, short, or in between. But I'll take the shorter stuff anyday. It's definitely been something that has helped her career. Obviously there's no scientific way of proving it, but I doubt she'd have the same level of fame if she still had the old long hair.

People who like to see new and interesting styles can count on Samaire.
She won't stick with the same style for long. I don't like the platinum on
her and the picture doesn't look attractive, but she's gone ultra-short
before and pulled it off very well.

Thanks for the second long haired picture, Chelsea. She sure looked a lot better with long hair IMHO.

I don't know much about her, but she is pretty cute.  The platinum seems a bit too harsh, but I like the hair otherwise.

I've found a few good pics of her.
This one is of her with long light brown hair. She looks great.

Here is one with dark brown long curly hair.

And another one with dark hair..

I found a good homepage where you can have a look at most of her different hair styles.

Thanks for the last three photos. Interesting that she hasn't been a Maxim girl since the short haircut. With her current over-the-top blonde processing, should she dye her eyebrows or at least pluck them a tad more?

And I certainly agree with Hal and many of the others. It's NEWS that made this board a success. It's not...

Fatmoo: Hey, look at this girl's hair.

Mike: Yeah, I like it.

Fatmoo: Me, too.

Mike: Cool.

Maxim asked Jaime Presley to be on the cover right before she
cut her hair short the first time. When they found out she cut it, they
asked her to wear extensions. Maxim had never had a short
haired Maxim Girl. Jaime didn't wear extensions and looked very sexy
in the shoot.

Thanks for the great photos, Vicky. I agree that news is best. But when there isn't any we TALK hair. How many of your posts, Kramer, would constitute real NEWS?

Posted By: Hal
Date Posted: July 11 2005 at 8:02am

Due to the new direction of this board many of the "news" posters longer visit thus less breaking news.  Maybe a board for those who like to post lol, yeah, and thanks would be in order.  We could call it the "I love to see my name on the net board" or the "How many times can I post in a day"?

A quick look at Fatmo's post:

Haley: 8/21 posts - by fatmo

Sabrina: 4/6 posts - by fatmo

Gwyneth: 8/21 posts - by fatmo

Federica: 7/16 posts - by fatmo

Sofia: 6/8 posts - by fatmo

Shakira: 8/32 posts - by fatmo

Can't you go blind posting to yourself?

Posted By: fatmoogas

Well, Hal, we are all just having fun here. If somebody gets fun from posting a lot, what's wrong with that? It tends to go in cycles anyway. Someone will post a lot for a while and then hardly post again for the next few months. As for the board not being visited by the news posters (and this being the reason for the lack of news) I am doubtful. Getty images and Wire Image are always the first sources of hair news--and we cover them pretty well.

I suppose it depends what you call news. For me, news could be Halle Berry changing the shade of color she has, questioning whether Gwyneth Paltrow has extensions or not, or discovering a couple of interesting hair celebrities from another country. I accept that this might not be news for those who believe that only a drastic change from long to short is "news". Anyway, as I said before, we are all here and posting because we like to talk about hair: there is no other reason.

Date Posted: July 11 2005 at 12:14pm

Fatmo you have every right to continue posting just for the sake of post and if thats what you like... please... continue.  I was just thinking I might not be the only one the gets worked up seeing a hot big name celeb, click on the post only to see "didn't she look nice back then" or "I think her hiar is 1/4 inch shorter?"  But hey... each to his own.  Maybe you could start each new post with something like "News Flash" if it's a traditional type post or "SOFS" if its the same ole stuff you like to post?

My point is that I'm here and posting for fun. Nothing else.

Posted By: Hal
Date Posted: July 11 2005 at 2:25pm

And my point is you don't seem to be a bad person or have any wish for ill will so why not heed a few of the hints that have been tossed your way and try to fit in.  Hey think aout it this way... My kids use to have a little book called "What if Everybody Did..."  It's ok for one person to drop a peice of trash but what if everybody did... It's ok for one person to say bad words but what if.... its ok for you to post the way you do.. but WHAT IF WE ALL DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted By: fatmoogas
Date Posted: July 11 2005 at 2:44pm

Thanks for the kind words. For me, it's not a problem if everyone posts in the same way. What way? If more people posted interesting stuff, I guess I'd post less often. Mostly, I am like everyone else coming here to find out interesting things...be they new or old. If it's new to me, then that means that, for me at least, it's also "news".

As for "fitting in" do you mean conforming to your definition of what is "news"?

Sorry guys.. I tired, I thought I did all the right things... point out a issue, offer a solution, hope for the best...well... no go... shot down.. wasted my time!  Sorry but I guess we'll just have to plod through the endless "Hey isn't she pretty" posts and the many follow ups containing the vastly interesting an ever entertaining "lol" "Yeah me too", "I thought that too" and last but not least "'s"  Could some email me when nonfatmo post is posted?

Ok...It's been awhile since I've been here, but it seems that some things don't change. There always seems to be people who want to bicker and make me have to scroll down past it to find someone who is on topic.

Samaire looks like Rachel Lee Cooke with the new style and color...and undoubtedly the long natural look was too midwestern gal. She seems to have a colorful personality and I think the new style might reflect that.

All looks seem to compliment her in one way or another though.

So what are you saying about Midwestern girls? Huh?

Just kidding.

Message boards are the last frontier for unaccountable blabbering. It doesn't matter how good one is, eventually they always eat themselves. I pitty the day this one does itself in, but it will. It's inevitable.

The other thing that factors in is that I'm sure many of the posters are not native to the English language, and often people don't know that, so when someone is actually quite smart for having learned a second language, they seem dumb because they may have made less than effective use of it.

May hats off to everyone though. Just let it slide.

Oh, back to the subject. Any chance Samaire makes an episode of Entourage with the new cut?

Honestly, this is exactly the same sense I gleaned from several complaints about "the dearth of news" that have been voiced on this board within the past several days.  Just an observation.

Sounds a lot like the many requests on the Short Hair board to lovebobs regarding his frequent posts about his wife.

In general, if you find it boring, you can ignore it.  It could be worse.

As a disciple of the legendary Jerky Flea, I think I've more than earned my stripes. As any search of this site will discover, I posted news recently on Bella Shaw (bangs, no longer brunette), Kelsi from SheDaisy (red hair longer than ever), Kiran Chetry (bangs), Portia DeRossi (haircut), Mary Pierce (long hair is back) and BET Awards (extensions, extensions and more extensions). In my former life as Gord, well, you can do the search yourself. You're fighting a losing battle here, Fatmoo.

Posted By: fatmoogas
Date Posted: July 12 2005 at 7:33pm

Well, you don't need to convince me, Kramer. I could say the same things: I posted about changes in Halle Berry's hair color and removal of extensions, discovered new hair celebrities from Italy, brought attention to Sophie Anderton's new extensions, posted on little known BBC newsreaders' hair, brought a microscope to bear on Nicole Kidman's switches from long to short and Gwyneth Paltrow's new growth and updated people on the current looks of Toni Braxton and Connie Nielsen. I did a lot more too and, as in your case, this will be shown by a cursory search of the site.

My point is, that for some people here, these things are not "news". Only dramatic cuts from long to short is "real news". Of course, I don't agree with this, and I hope to see you continuing to post on such issues as Anne Curry's current length, extensions and women who, basically, just have a good head of hair.
