Did you do the touch up yourself or was it done by a professional? Was a flat iron used with the Rusk? Even though both products are Thio based, one is designed to be used with heat and the other one isn't. You should never use heat with Rusk and the product should never touch the scalp. This could cause irritation to the scalp, and worst, it could couse damage to the hair bulb, cause permanent hair reduction (hair loss) and breakage. Chi TR and Rusk anticurl are totally differnt products. Chi TR is designed to totally and permanently straighten hair. Rusk reduces the curl, smooths it out and fights humidity but won't defy it, like TR. I decided to go back to Rusk after a horrible experience with TR which took my hair 2 years to recover from. I am very happy with the Rusk. I live in Miami and my hair stay totally straight, smooth and shiny, even in the unbearable summer months. I do blow dry and flat iron my hair. You should only use Rusk (or similar products, Redken Vertical, Loreal X-tenso etc) if you no longer want TR'd hair, and are looking for an alternative, because they are different products. Remember no heat with Rusk. If your scalp is itchy that means the product touched the scalp which is a big no no (with the Chi also). If you did it yourself, have a professional do it next time. I know it is more expensive, but your hair is your most important accesory. If a professional did it, then find someone else, because he/she does not know what they are doing. You can go to Verticalsinhair.com and find great information, and even the right hair regimen for TR'd hair. For now do alot of protein treatments. Redken Deep fuel, Joico Reconstructor, and Sebastian 2+1 are all exellent. That will help with the breakage and itchiness. Remember to deep condition after protein treatments. Otherwise your hair will feel like straw. Hope this helps. Good luck.
