Hi guys,, Ive been reading the"blackhairmedia" foum
for months but could never post so Ive come here
and I can post!! I have extremely curly mixed (black
and white)hair which after i started relaxing i lost a
large part of due to breakage,,I have finally learned
what to do and my hair is growing thick and
beautifully,, i still straighten it but with just for me
childrens regular which just loosens the curl,, i wash
one a week with thermasilk or infusium,, just started
using triple mosiure neutrogena(im sick of the
sulfates) and deep condition with suave humectress
or thermasilk for about and hour with a baggie and
spray pantene wrap and set lotion and air dry,, then i
will blow dry the next day after a conditioner wash or
regular and use nioxin "bliss" leave in ,, my hair
comes out thick and lustrous,, I have cute back on
the heat (flat irons) to 2 or three times a week ,, i
also sleep with a silk scarf(just started recently) and
a stain pillowcase,, ive also stopped brushing like a
maniac and mostly just comb,, im loving what i see!!
anway good luck

anyhoo I'll add it here,, to add my regimen: I have
also been using John Frieda Relax hair serum and i
think this helped maintain my lenth and save my
hair,, I use it evry time I flat iron,, I also take a daily
multivitamin,,, I had a bad experience with GNC hair
vitamins,, I was peeing like a madwoman and my
face began retaining water,, i think it made me toxic,,
be careful b4 u take special vitamins

Welcome cookiesnkream. You sound like you have a great hair care regimine. I use the John Freida relax hair serum also. I liked it okay but when I started using Dove straightening cream I liked it even better. I'm glad you have had good luck with your regimine.
This is off topic but I can't post on blackhairmedia either.

Me neither. I used to be able to post and then it wouldn't let me
anymore. Then I found out you have to email them and ask them to allow
you to post. So I did that and it's supposed to take a few months but I
think I may have to email them again. They should've made an
announcement that you have to email for permission to post.

It's called Dove Straight and Soft. It's a cream consistency...kinda like lotion. I liked it cuz it made my hair smoother and it seemed much easier to flat iron. I love their shampoo and conditioner also. Have you used those?
Yeah I gave up on blackhairmedia also. I really wanted to post there cuz like you said they have a lot of good info but oh well.

have to chek the ingredients. Right now Im using
neutrogena triple moisture cream lather shampoo
and its working wonders,,(i cannot remember the
last time i saw my hair this silky,, its more silky than
mymoms euro straight weave!!! LOOL) i suggest
everyone to give it a shot ,, its just 5.99 and its on
sale for 4.99 this week at CVS;-)

I've heard good reviews on the Neutrogena Triple Moisture line, especially the mask but I haven't tried them yet. I can't get away from Creme of Nature shampoo. That shampoo works great for me. It gets all my tangles out and leaves my hair so soft. I think I will give he Neutrogena a shot as soon as I use up some of the products I have (and that's a lot ). I like Fructis also but I stopped using that for some unknown reason so I know what you mean.

yeah i know how it is to get hooked on a product
and be terrified to try something new , ive only heard
good about creme of nature though,, it must be
similar to triple moisture becuz it doesnt contain the
SLS or ALS. Thats what made me stop using regular
shampoo,, all these years I didnt realize that those
sulaftes were probably drying my hair up pretty bad,,
o well ,, now i know ,, anyway i need to warn u about
the triple moisture mask,, i actually went out and
bought it and used it once,, and it seemed to work
but it contains THREE types of alcohol and i try to
steer clear of alcohol but i love the smell,,
unfortunately its just gonna be sitting here..(its 6.99) I
will be keeping up on the garnier sleek and smooth
mask tho,, but the smell makes me just about gag,,
it kinda gets up in my nose!!!! but it works,, do u know
of any other deep conditioners that really work??

Yeah Creme of Nature is great. I love it. I don't think I'll be trying the Neutrogena though. I use Fructis long and strong and that is good but I stopped using it for some reason. As far as deep conditioners I mostly use Lekair cholesterol or Queene Helene cholesterol. They work well and make my hair strong. I follow those up with a moisturizing conditioner like Dove, Fructis or Finesse. I've been hearing good reviews on the Herbal Essence intensive blends conditioner and the one in the pink bottle...I think it's for dry damaged hair. I haven't tried it yet cuz back in the day I remember not really liking how Herbal Essence worked on my hair. I also like Pantent's relaxed and natural conditioner and I heard Pantene Hydrating curl conditioner is real good. That is going to be the next one I try, as soon as I use up some of the stuff I got now...and that's a lot of stuff .

hey Pokahantas,, I also had issues with Herbal
Essences in the past but I loved the smell!! I wish my
hair could stand it , I may also try creme of nature, I
was wondering since u do use creme of nature,, do
u ever use a regular shampoo or does it clean well
enough for you not to need any others?? ...... anyway
i didnt know that all alcohols were ent drying ,,layla ,,
thats interesting but if i see 3 alcohols in one product
is scares me! lol,, im gonna check and see if the
neutrogena has bad alcohols,,, I know that Biosilk
serum smells just like rubbing alcohol when it
separates so ive totally stopped using that

Nah, I don't use a lot of shampoo other than Creme of Nature. You should try it. The only other ones I use are Finesse, Fructis and Dove. I like them all but not as good a Creme of Nature. I feel you on the alcohol thing...I freak out if there is a lot of alcohol in a product also...not sure which ones are the bad ones. I think i read somewhere before that everything that ends in an "ol" is alcohol or alcohol based. I'm not sure how true that is but I am wary of it. I need to read up on my product ingredients cuz I don't know what most of them mean.

I know Biosilk Silk Therapy smells like alcohol and if you don't shake
it up you get alcohol in your hand but it makes my hair so shiny. I
don't use it often and I have other products on my hair first. What I
do (I don't know if it helps or not) is shake it up really well pour
some in my hand and rub it and let it sit for like 10-20 seconds. My
hand gets all cold and it feels like the alcohol is evaporating so I
hope that most of it evaporates so there's not a lot left by the time
it gets on my hair. It probably doesn't work like that but it makes me
feel better about using it.

Actually,, you are right,, right after i chekced this
board I found that same article and
naturallycurly.com about these alcohols. I am
actually no longer afraid of alcohol unless its alcohol
denat which is true alcohol,, all the others are just
similart to fatty acids (or something) lol and actually
help seal the cuticle ,, and layla that is actually a
good idea ,, what u do with the biosilk becuz alcohol
does evaporate very rapidly and leaving it your palm
is doing just that,, thats why it feels so icy becuz of
the quick evap,, most ppl do that with perfume,, but i
think that there is real alcohol in that serum,, anyway
im gonna contine with my triple moisture mask
which contains 3 different "alcohols" but they are all
the good kind,, thanx for that info... by the way
Pokahantas,, i forgot to mention that your hair looks
really really pretty in that pic,, what hair type are you..?

Thanks cookiesnkream. I get really confused on my hair type. I have so many. I think I have some 3a and 3b with possible 3c... . I would have to say that I think the majority is 3b though. Do you use gel cookiesnkream? Cuz i just bought a new gel that's great and I thought I'd share with you. It's called Fantasia IC with sparkelites. It has no alcohol and it has aloe vera and wheat protein in it. It works perfect for me when I wear my hair back in a curly ponytail. It dosen't make my hair hard but it still has hold and great shine. When I flat iron my hair straight I don't use gel though. I only use it when I wear it curly.

O man,, i remember gel LOL ,, when i was 13 to 15
years old i would soak my hair in water and about
half a bottle of gel every morning!!! ,, that was the only
way i could get my corkscrew curls to stay flat and
never did i recieve so many compliments,, when i
began relaxing after that noone complimented my
hair anymo lol but thats ok cuz its just more
common and i didnt have soaked shirts anymore
lol,, they would dry like crispy noodles LOL , anyway
now i keep my hair straight all the time becuz it looks
downright weird curly,, like half curly half straight so i
have no use for gel now:-( ,, i wish it were more
versatile:-( but thanx anyway, pokahantas
